  1. It was built by Metzger Aquatics in Minnesota. Several years ago... Ken
  2. Dennis, I am on Interlachen. this tank I had custom built and now that we changed the room it will not fit. I went with 68X36X24. Tank is now $800. Wife wants it gone. Ken
  3. I have a 220 gal tank for sale.$1,000 OBO. Never had water in it. 90X24X24 with external overflow. Overflow is in one end, and tank is viewable from tree sides. I will throw in some equipment..Little Giant pump, Berlin skimmer, both used. No stand...never got that far. Tank is in Fairview, Oregon.
  4. No. I started at 10% and that seemed too bright. Lowered to 5or 6% and still pretty bright. Turned down to around 4% about 4 weels ago. I just went to 2% couple days ago. My wife keeps telling me there is too much light at night, and it does seem like she is right.
  5. The clam has been there and fine for over 6 weeks. No color chabge, but not open and the mantle is not extended any longer. Started after it expelled a white substance (sperm) several times last night.
  6. No change since I put it in 6 weeks ago. I think it is an crocrea. I put in 4 and all others look OK. This one has never fully extended its mantel like the others, but did not look that bad. I am using Solaris lights. The color still looks good, but not fully openned and nonresponsive.
  7. Quick clam question. Last night I noticed one of my clams expelling some white substance. Did this every minuete or so for about 5 minutes, then I had to leave. I did not know if it was sponning or what. Fish seened to ignore the substance. Today the clam does not loook very good. Mantel is recessed and it does not respond to touch or light change. My other three clams look just fine. Anyone know what is going on? Ken
  8. garretm85, I have a 220 gal tank that might work for you. 90 X 24 X 24. End external overflow. Tank has never had water in it. Selling for $1,000. Ken
  9. I have two on my new tank (68 X 36 X 25). They are pretty quiet and the flow is very wide. Easy to relocate is you want to try it in a different position. The controller in not due out till next year, so no waves yet. The battery backup will give you 36 hrs on one pump at half speed. They put out around 3,500 GPH at top speed. By the time you get the pump, Ocean Motion, all the holes drilled (esp if glass), add up all the bulkheads, unions, ball valves, and potential leaks, the cost is not that much larger. If you would like to come by and see for yourself just let me know. I am in Fairview. Ken
  10. Joel mixed up some salt and the Ca and Alk were low, but the Mg was good. We opened another bag (same lot number) and the Ca and Alk were higher, but the Mg was lower. He gave me a new batch and the numbers I got were: Ca 420, Alk 9 (dkh). I do not have a Mg test kit yet, so no numbers there. I can live with that. Can only speculate as to why there were very different numbers between two bags of the same lot number salt. Ken
  11. Just checked at 1.024. Alk 5.1 Calcium 270 Not much better. Joel, I will bring some salt by on Sunday Ken
  12. Just went out and calibrated my refractometer. Now reading 1.020, so I will add supersaturated salt to the water and see what I get.
  13. Yes, that is DKH. Half the salt is about 1 mo old, the other half I bought Sunday.
  14. Sailfert test kit. Did it twice because my jaw droped after the first. Refractometer measures 0.02 with RO/DI, so it is close.
  15. I am filling my new 250 gal tank with fresh RO/DI water and Ocean Pure salt mix. Salinity is 1.024 (refractometer). Just for kicks I decided to test the water. KH....4.8 CA+...270 PH 7.8 That does not look good to me. Should I dump the water (has taken me three days to make this much), or try to boost with chemicals (A and B stuff?)? I put the rock in the tank today, would be a [language filter] to have to take it all out and start over with the water. Thanks, Ken
  16. You can get Dura Seal at Crosscut, a division of Emerson Hardwood. They charge $98 per gallon and it is virtually the same formula as Bona traffic. Both of these are for heavy use. Possibly overkill, but your time will be a much larger investment than the extra price per gallon you pay over the standard finish (Bona water base). Ken
  17. I just repaired a damaged hardwood floor. Had more than one incident of water flooding. Splashes are no problem, but do not forget to turn off the top off water and...... We have 3/4 by 21/4 and it is tight enough that there are no worries. I would be concerned with the pre finished floors that snap together. Water can get down the cracks. If you put a finish over the floor, you may want to talk to the guys at Ryerson Hardwood. They give classes in finishing wood floors. There may be a compatibility problem with the pre finish and poly that you get in the stores. If you do put a new layer over, consider either Bona or Dura Seal. These products have much higher % solids. I used Dura Seal Xtera, which is a catalyzed finish. Much harder. I have heard both good things and bad about bamboo. It is very dependent on where you get the floor.
  18. I talked to them today (Tom). He said they are coming because there was a group in Seattle that wanted to get several tanks. He has not had contact from them, and will cancel the NW trip if he does not get several orders within the next week. I would like to order a 68X36X25 as well as a 48X24X21 Sump. I have looked at all the posts on RC and am aware of their reputation. They do not polish the edges (just grind off the sharp edge), they will not do external overflow, etc., but they are very reasonable for what you do get. Several have posted that the silicone glue needs to be touched up with a razor, but nobody has complained of tank failure or underbuilding. They offer low iron glass and you can get eurobracing, as well as Calfo linnear overflow. Ken
  19. The tank is 90X24X24. It has external overflow at one end. The tank is viewable from three sides, but you do not have to set it up that way. There is no stand or canopy. The tank has never had water in it. We rearranged our living room and the tank will no longer fit. There is a trickle filter and pump and protein skimmer included. Located in Fairview.....just east of Portland. Asking $1,200 OBO. I can get pictures if you are interested. Ken 503 661-6114
  20. How about a 225? It is new and the price is right.
