  1. I always enjoy the pictures- it helps me visualize what folks are talking about.
  2. Nice display. I like the monti- looks like its ready to frag (naughty) .
  3. Programmed Cell Death in Corals... http://www.coralcoe.org.au/news_stories/coralsuicide.html Images... http://www.coralcoe.org.au/news_stories/coralsuicide/imagegallery.html
  4. (party) Happy Birthday Pippa! Cool avatar.
  5. I think powdertang wants to see a photo of the reflectors taken from the end so that he can see how thick they are. He's not interested in the endcaps.
  6. I'm curious, besides the desire to upgrade- is there a reason you feel your existing lights are inadequate? (I have no experience with compact fluorescents so pardon my ignorance)
  7. Also from Wet Web Media... I added the emphasis. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/pestflatwrmanthony.htm "'Rust Brown Planarians are just one such example of a nuisance organism that needs to be monitored if not controlled. This flatworm is usually 1/8 to ¼” in size (~3-6mm) with a color ranging from orange through red to brown. It is cited in aquarium literature as Convolutriloba retrogemma and considered to be a pest because it can expand in population to plague proportions in a matter of a few short months. Populations get so dense that they occur in crowded mats that literally block necessary sunlight and circulatory functions from the corals that are forced to serve as perches for them. They are said to ingest zooxanthellae from decaying coral tissue and prosper under bright illumination. They dislike strong water flow and are often noticed in the areas of weakest water movement in an infected display. Increased water movement alone in otherwise properly maintained aquariums can sometimes reduce the population of flatworms...' '...Manual siphoning is moderately effective but laborious. The truth of the matter is that such flatworms are common and present in many tanks. They will wax and wane and rarely linger in a large sustainable population. If a system is aggressively scrubbed with a protein skimmer, properly fed and not overstocked, the colony of pest flatworms will most likely crash within a couple of months. Support in the meantime through occasional siphoning, increased water flow and a natural predator (if it is suitable for the system and tank mates) is likely to make this frighteningly unpleasant symptom a truly small concern.' Anthony Calfo... with kind regards."
  8. Here's a link to the report 180Bob referred to... http://aslo.org/lo/toc/vol_52/issue_2/0716.pdf
  9. The meeting was great- Kudos for everyone!
  10. Hey! I wonder if I could just drop in an M-80?(clap)
  11. Nice shots. I like the tie-dye... Thanks for sharing.
  12. I'm not trying to sidetrack the thread, but I'm curious why you are selling. I thought you were very happy (growth, color, etc.) with the T5's.
  13. CCR- Do you want me to bring the pink-orange monti cap?
  14. Last post it was still up for grabs. http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3024&page=2
  15. Definitely worth the price of admission!
  16. Thank you all for the discussion- I was looking for everyone's experiences. It is interesting, this morning I couldn't hardly find one. I thought the sixline was doing an amazing job, he looks nice and fat. This afternoon I see a bunch. Not a big deal- they aren't affecting any of my corals yet. They are localized on just a single rock. I'm not afraid to use the Flatworm Exit, I will dose it if I need to- but I'm going to just let this go and observe what happens. I suspect like most things, this is just a phase that will pass. Let me know if you disagree.
  17. Lowman, Do you have a photo of your pink stylo?
  18. No, thank you, I've got some from you when I gave you some halimeda. Mine has bleached out some, I can't tell if I have under too much light or not enough.
  19. I'm interested in a small frag of your green digi- but I don't have much to trade except my pink/orange monti cap and xenia. Give me a PM.
  20. And here's the sixline... I think he's smiling. He was actually tough to photograph, always on the move.
  21. I thought I'd post a photo of the offending worms... Where's Waldo(s)?
