  1. Good one! I am convinced that pets make life tolerable! I don't know what I'd do without my "personal zoo" to entertain me with some of the idiotic things they do! I love that cat video! I've seen it a million times and it still makes me laugh! I love it when the cat attacks the toddler. (clap) Stacy

    Funny!

Right on! Glad he enjoyed it... and wish him well for me! By-pass surgery! Oy! Stacy
  3. See, you need a new job! If they were truly compassionate about your plight they'd buy you the "medicine"! rofl Sorry about the evil bristleworm. I have yet to get tagged by one. Been a couple of close calls though! Stacy

    Funny!

I read this on another message board! I know... oh, the horror! I go to other message boards! It was appropriate for me as I'm trying to lose a bit of the table muscle. (Bow) Stacy
  5. Now, come on... what lovely lady wouldn't love a Brad diamond? Granted, it wouldn't be from the heart. It would be from the hair! rofl Stacy
  6. Ask and ye shall receive! Eternal Reefs I figure last man standing is going to have to hang on to everyone until their number is up. Whether we arrange something with a lawyer, family member or friend to send the cremains on their merry way remains to be seen. :p Stacy
  7. Here's the link to prices. Not cheap! Diamond Prices It's actually a pretty neat concept. I could make a nice piece of jewelry from the cremains of my mother... course, I hate wearing jewelry! I know, sound tacky. But you're also talking to a person who is seriously entertaining the thought of having their ashes (along with Jay/parents/special pets) put into one of those man-made reef boulders so I can truly become part of the hobby when I pass on to that great reef tank in the sky. Stacy
  8. Well, you did an outstanding job with your stand as far as I'm concerned. I agree with Mike. I can see some money-making potential in your future making stands, canopies or whatever else you are so inclined to give a go at! Stacy
  9. So, next time one of you guys pops the question or want to get jewelry for a loved one... nothing says "I love you" like a diamond made out of your hair! FYI: I will not be held liable for any ensuing divorces or break-ups! Stacy
  10. Jay and I stopped by to see Roger on Wednesday so we could check out all the progress he's made on his school tanks and take a few pics. Plus find out what he needs from our tank for his "Educator Care Package". Roger showed us some of the DIY rock and plugs that they've been making. They are pretty awesome! He told us that the rock is great fun to make, so I think Jay and I are going to have to play in a little cement and see what kinds of interesting formations we can create. Here's a few pics I took. If Roger is so inclined, I'm sure he will elaborate more on the critters as well as talk about the kids and the tanks. Apparently polyp extension is a hot topic as of late! The flash made this guy's color come out bluer than it is. Stacy
  11. Wow! Nice job on that stand! You actually look like you know what you're doing! Keep us posted as your tank progresses. I can't wait to see how your animals fare under T5s! Stacy
  12. Go, Tim! (clap) party I do hope that Tim is invited to speak at one of our meetings again. And hopefully another tour of the facilities is on the roster as a future event. Anything to expand our knowledge of the hobby is aces in my book. And if Tim wanted frags from hobbyists (or whatever), Jay and I would be more than happy to help out. We both want to support our educators as much as possible! Stacy
  13. rofl Great stories! Smudge feels much better now! Course, Boo... she did a somewhat stupid pet stunt this morning. She was crossing the clothes hamper in the laundry room. One of those PVC jobbies. Well, she stepped where there wasn't PVC to hold her weight and PLOP! Dropped into one of the mesh bags! Then she gives me the look of "How in the heck do I get out of here? Help me!" Silly kittens! DOH! Stacy
  14. Well, I think you can count yourself out on ever designing the banner for the website! rofl Just kidding! Believe me, what you did... brilliant compared to what I would be able to do! I can find the smilies, but I can't make them! Stacy
  15. Jay has been working on building a bigger cage for Tiny our tegu for a week or so now. (Sidenote: I'm going to clean the heck out of Tiny's old cage- it's a 24"x24" cube- for growing out frags.) It's not finished yet, but the front is on with the glass and the sides are high enough that I'm pretty confident the lizard won't escape. And if he does, he's safe in the office with the door shut. The top will have to come later as Tiny is pretty much through brumating and the old tank was getting way too cramped from him. Our kitten, Smudge... well, she was sitting on the arm of the futon absolutely transfixed with Tiny moving around in there. The futon is probably three feet from the cage. Before I knew what she was doing she leapt from the arm of the futon and WHAM! Bashed her head full on into the glass and dropped to the floor like a Thanksgiving turkey. rofl Of course, I was hysterically laughing so I was pretty much unable to to see if the kitten was okay much less tell Jay what had just transpired. He was sitting right here, checking out the boards. But I'm sure he heard the thud, and the ensuing squeal of laughter that followed. It's times like that I wish I had a camcorder! Funniest thing ever! I was crying I was laughing so hard! Just thought I'd share! Stacy
  16. And me without Jay's wallet! What kind of wife am I! West Coast Seafood Watch Printout Eh, I guess it was easier to find the link that you can print out than anyhow! Stacy
  17. I can just hear them, swimming away from the evil fish net... "NOO!!!" (clap) I shudder to think of all the bloodshed and carnage if damsels (again, the fish kind) ruled the world. They'd probably make hades look like Disneyland! :p I'm telling you, for the sake of a harmonious relationship, you should set up a "His and Hers" tank(s). That way you can put in an Origami Fish in your tank and not hear any complaints and he can put in a pack of clowns... and you can laugh when he reaches into the tank and when he takes his hand back out all he's left with are stumps for fingers! I know the hobby has been much more pleasant for me since I set up my nano. Even though originally the tank was mine and somebody highjacked it! Not naming any names... JAY! whistle Stacy
  18. We use it, too! Jay always whips it out of his wallet when we buy seafood to make sure we're doing our part. Stacy
  19. Things are beginning to get very interesting! Good stuff! I do agree that for the most part, we do need to let nature take its course. What do you do when a baby animal falls out of its nest? You leave it alone. I've had that pounded into my head since I was a kid... but it's hard advice to follow! I tend to swoop in and try to rescue the unfortunate animal (or human from time to time!) even though it isn't always what is best for the critter or individual. In reference to the wild reefs, I don't think there's anything we can do directly for them. The ocean is a pretty big tank and when you get right down to it, you can't tweak the water parameters much. Your theory is very interesting, survival of the fittest. It would be interesting to know if one particular species of coral is being targetted in this bleaching or if the entire mixed colonies are being decimated. I tend to agree with you on medicine. I do think much of it is over-used. Such as antibiotics. I believe that there are facts out there attributing to stronger germs/bacterias/viruses from their adaption to our arsenal. Survival of the fittest! What you said about fertility drugs is interesting as well. I also wonder what the impact is of so many women using "family control medication" (trying to be very "G" rated here). Despite water purification, isn't it feasible that this still leaches into the water? Could this be part of the issue of "needing" fertility drugs? (crazy) But even with the "bad", medicine has done many great things! I think there are pros and cons with anything and everything. I'm not sure if nature will enact a cycle of cleansing when things progress to the cusp of "destruction". That could happen or conditions could deteriorate so radically that the world will be unable to sustain much of life on the planet. Then once the troublesome critters are erradicated the earth will clean itself up and start over! Just a thought! I really don't personally foresee a global cleansing (or any epic earth changes in 2012 you wacky Indian!). (fingers) And we are getting so off topic here! We have a couple new threads we can start just from these past few posts! Remember, kiddies! Recycle, renew, reuse! However the saying goes! Stacy
  20. That's what I told him when he popped that off to me. They probably figured 2012... good place to stop, let the future generations worry about it! Heck, I have enough trouble with my dry erase monthly calendar on the fridge! Stacy
