Andy, that was awesome!!! What's great about this club is that paying members and non paying members have the same voice!!! Note the tone of sarcasm there..... This argument should be in the members section, since it relates to club policy.

Caye's was given that shark. They tried to give it to the OCA and the Hatfield Center, but they didn't want it. It is sad to see that fish in an aquarium that small. It will out grow that tank and then what? I guess they could make shark fin soup.....

I agree that it should be voted upon by the membership. I do happen to agree with Kim however. The results will be similar. Maybe it should be said to sponsors who bring this up in the future that we discourage the selling of raffle items, but we don't deny the winners the right to do what they want with the items.

This forum is like a family. Every so often there has to be an explosion, then it gets quiet for a while. There are many outspoken folks here and they are not afraid to voice their opinion, which makes this forum unique in a lot of ways. Our mods are not usually heavy handed either. Welcome to the site.

That statement was made off handedly, after the drawing. There is no set policy about reselling of raffle prizes written anywhere into the club by laws or terms of membership. The initial post of the item for sale did not break any rules. Being on the BOD is not a fun job, I have been there, and I know how tough it can be. That said, by becoming a BOD participant, you are elected by the people who pay their dues to be members and you should represent their interests, not the interests of sponsors. By making a stand against a member who is trying to sell his property because a sponsor said not to, does not, in my opinion, represent the member, it represents the interests of the sponsor. What is the main goal of the club? Is it to make money? Or is it to educate and exchange information?

So, now that I have opened and read the first issue of the mag subscription I won, can I sell it?

As the gentleman stated before, he thought he could use it and had a lot of tickets in the bag. Once he checked out what his application was, he found he didn't need it. The point is, it is not up to any one to judge a person for selling an item he or she legitimately won in a raffle that they paid their money in. Who gives a rat's *** if you sell something here? The rule was laid down AFTER the raffle was over. No rules were broken by the person who posted the item for sale.

The club was founded to serve MEMBERS for the betterment of the hobby, exchange of information, and to educate the public about how rewarding a hobby we are in. There was much discussion whether or not to allow sponsorships to be sold. I HATE the fact that some of the sponsors of the club hold us hostage over petty crap sometimes, like this issue. If a new person to the site was to put some stupid condition on their paying the fee, we would laugh them off the site. And, while we in Salem on Sunday, a group of us visited the local stores. When asked by a paying member of the club if they honored the club discount, that member was told that no that particular store wouldn't honor the discount. [language filter]???? Why would we allow a store to get the cheap adertising they have and not hold up to their end of the sponsorship agreement. I put tickets in almost all the bags at the party. If I could sell the item I won, I probably would. I really don't need another piece of recyclable paper laying around the house for my dog to chew up.

None of the threads that were deleted broke any forum rules. They should not have been deleted, or moved to the BOD forum, IMHO.

I was doing it, and having great results, I got up to 4.5ml and had the worst cyno outbreak I have ever had. My tank still hasn't recovered from it. So, I am not sold on vodka dosing personally
