andy Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 No, no... not Green Star Polyps... Georges St. Pierre. MMA fighter. Anyone getting Saturday's fight or know of a local bar that is? My days of buying fights on a whim are done. Quote
R-3 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 St Pierre is gonna work over Penn. It will be a good fight. Even though that is the main fight one of the better ones will be Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva. I got a friend that is getting it this time around. I bought last months so its his turn Quote
andy Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 I agree about the outcome. BJ will do his best to keep away for the first 2 rounds, then things will start going bad for him. I'm not a Silva fan, but I hope he grinds Machida into powder. Quote
madmike Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I too think BJ will give him a run for his money, but in the end they are fighting at 170 and BJ really is a 155'er. But don't count BJ out, I hope he surprises us. Quote
chewie Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 GSP always wins! Oh wait, that's only in coral warfare. I dunno, but it will be a HECKUVA fight for sure. Quote
Michael7979 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I'm goning to put my money on BJ Penn!!! I think he will submit GSP. But if the fight goes into the later rounds the edge swings to GSP. BJ never has had great cardio/stamina. Yeah wish someone down here was getting it. Really can't swing the cost all by myself. Maybe I'll find a bar to go to. Quote
R-3 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Well that was a great card. I think everyone won that I wanted besides Diaz. Why dont you like Machida Andy? Quote
andy Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 I find overly defensive fighters like Machida to be on the dull side. Of course, this time around he KTFO'd Alves (laugh) Glad that GSP took down BJ. Quote
Michael7979 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Glad that GSP took down BJ. I feel the opposite. Maybe this will mean GSP v. BJP III. Quote
R-3 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I feel the opposite. Maybe this will mean GSP v. BJP III. Mike how bad does George need to beat Penn? Maybe in a couple years a rematch but its a little overdone now. It was a BEAT DOWN! Every round was score 10-8. Penn needs to stay in his division and dominate and let GSP be the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC. Quote

Since the UFC obviously has no one that is a challange to GSP maybe they will push for a third fight. Not saying it is deserved or anything, but they are running out of good fighters with all of these other fighting leagues and Dana White alienating a lot of fighters. White has been the best and worse thing for the UFC I believe. And with PPVs every month they don't have a great selection of fight cards anymore. Remember when there use to be 4-5 HUGE fights on one card!? Quote
reef-fisher Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Anderson Silva. UFC 100. Do you know who the victim, i mean, challenger will be? I want to see the rematch from Cote!!! I agree that the cards are kinda slim now-a-days. The similar fight style-fights are getting kinda boring. I like to see fights go the distance, but seriously. We need new competition. Let silva fight GSP. It would be fun to watch them stalk eachother(laugh) Quote
andy Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 That's what I meant, GSP vs. Anderson. Wishful thinking Quote
reefer Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 GSP ia a BAAAAD man, but anderson is the real deal!! no offense to gsp cuz he is BAAAD w/ 3 a's not 4!! silva is THE next level striker that NO ONE knows how to prepare for!! if this happens...i got silva in 3...and i dont have much, but i would put my 10lbs of LR on silva Quote
andy Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 GSP was able to take both Hughes and Serra down at will... it was embarrassing how easy he made it look. I'm *dying* to see if he could do the same to Silva. UFC party at my place if this fight comes together Quote
Michael7979 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 GSP is really good. But the last time he fought Hughes.... Hughes is past his prime. Quote
reef-fisher Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Anyone else hear about the 'greasing' allegations arising from GSPs corner? Quote
Michael7979 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Anyone else hear about the 'greasing' allegations arising from GSPs corner? I heard about Penns complaint but nothing since the fight. Quote
andy Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Yeah, there's been some discussion on the MMA forums. GSP beat him so bad it really isn't an issue. Turns out there wasn't a rule against it anyways. UFC just made a new rule that only cutmen can bring vaseline into the ring. Since there is another rule about only two guys being in the corner with the fighter, we'll only see one trainer in there between rounds ('cause you know they'll want grease on the fighter's forehead and cheeks) Quote
R-3 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Anyone else hear about the 'greasing' allegations arising from GSPs corner? Yeah its pretty much bull. Its Penn's way of dealing with a beat down. I can't imagine anything coming of it since GSP so clearly dominated him. Quote
reef-fisher Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 The story I heard said the corner man lost his license, and when BJ was asked about it, he said he would have lost anyway. Total domination by GSP! Quote
