Simple Fast Way To Test APEX Breakout Box

TLDR;

Use a short piece of wire and your fuge lights to test the break out box ports because it is much easier and faster than fusion and even the local apex web ui.

===========================================================

If you have ever had to troubleshoot a break out box on APEX, it can be a bit frustrating.

Tonight, I had two of the Avast DIY breakout boxes.  Hooked them up, but one port seemed to not be working.

Tried using fusion to troubleshoot, but it is oh so painful to wait for fusion to update.  Refreshing the browser helps a little, but not much.

The local APEX IP for some reason is no longer showing my PM1 ports on any of the more recently added PM1s despite firmware being up to date.

So long story short...here is a simple way to test that is fast and easy, and has no delay.

1)  Plug a light into your eb8, or reuse an existing item on your system that you don't mind turning on and off for a test.

For my example, I will use the fuge lights as it hurts nothing if they toggle on/off.

2)  Change your program for that power outlet.  For example, to test port 6 on the breakoutbox.

3)  Take a short piece of wire or a paper clip and connect from port 6, to ground.

You will get immediate feedback, the light should turn on.

Simple, easy, probably not a big reveal but maybe it will help someone out there 😉
