Storms this weekend

Inverter generators make the cleanest power and are safest for electronics but they are spendy for the amount of power they put out.

We use a regular generator with a yamaha motor.  I love yamahas.  The key though is that the generator has AVR to protect your electronics.  This one runs our whole house short of the water heater and hvac when the power is out.

Here is a link to home depot generators with avr:

Here is a great guide on amazon with allot more details and better info than I can share:

Harbor freight generators get really good reviews and look like a good value.

Electric starters are nice if you hate pulling a start cord.

Be sure to treat the fuel when you add it with stabil.  Nothing ruins gas equipment quicker than stale gas.

Oh, 1800 watts is one typical circuit in your house.  We can run our whole house including the tanks off of a 5700 watt generator.  To help with sizing guidelines...

Good luck!

Thanks so mich for the detailed response. Unfortunately I was not in a position to have one shipped in the next two to 3 weeks thinking of my tank going for the weekend so I purchased a well reviewed 7500 water from home depot. It was the last one in Stock anywhere!!
