catfish2
So since it's warming up, I thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions for cooling a tank. Chiller is the obvious answer, but I'm looking for more economical solutions. Some of the things I'll do is point a fan at my sump. This causes more evaporation, but can lower the temp a little. I've also put frozen water bottles in the sump (not sure if this is a good idea or not). I'd be interested in hearing any other ideas people have. cerk1985
Before I had ac, I would run my lights later at night when it was cooler. Two summers ago I was having them come on at 12am and go off at 8am. It helped alot.
fishmanmike01
Working in tillamook last week I was receiving texts and emails from the tank like every hour, (due to temp) and it was only just over 80 here. Had to get myself a nice chiller. Frozen bottles work really well if your around enough to change them out, and fans definitely help. I however travel too much for that to be an option. matty
A fan blowing across the surface or at the sump works well but will cause more evaporation for sure.
Lexinverts
Frozen bottles and fans work very well, but you have to keep to a regular schedule. A chiller is the best option if you are away for weekends, etc...
