Higherthinking! What's up!? I assumed that would be the general consensus and I definitely appreciate the input. I've never quarentined coral, just dipped like you mention, even multiple dips over a few weeks time,but just returned the coral back to the display. Despite those efforts, I ended up with the dreaded Monti eating nudies. I want to avoid that this time around,but setting up another system sounds like a hassle not to mention expensive. I just don't know how likely it is for an egg of some critter or a critter itself to make it from one coral through a sump to another coral in the frag tank. What is more of a risk, dipping corals then putting them in the display or dipping corals and putting them in a "quarentine tank" that is tied into a frag tank with potentially lots of awesome Acro frags? Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted. I moved to Southern California and I haven't found a group of reefers I trust so I thought I would post my question here. I'm looking to set up a frag tank, but I'm wondering if I can plumb a quarentine tank (for coral only) into the frag tank's sump (the frag tank and quarantine tank will share a sump.) Basically, the question is: what is the likelohood that coral threats (AEFW, Monti eating nudies, red bugs, bubble algae...) will go from the quarantine tank to the sump then into the frag tank? I would really like to avoid setting up a separate quarantine system and I want the stability of the larger water volume. Thanks for your input!

It has been a while since I have posted on here. So, I’m very sad that the post I am making is about selling my setup. I wish I could keep it, but I’m moving out of state. Several members on here have seen my setup and can attest to the success I have had with it. It is still up and running and has literally everything one would need for a successful reef. This system has been running for about 3.5 yrs. I would like to sell it all together and will give a very good deal to someone who wants the whole package. However, I will be taking offers on individual items in case it needs to be parted out. I am willing to negotiate since I have to move at the end of the month. That being said, I do think the prices I have listed are fair. (If you disagree, let me know and we will work something out). I’d also be willing to entertain trades. Although, I'm not sure for what so let me know what you got. It would have to be something realities small to make the move with me. When I've cut it out in the past, I've chipped the area of the rock it was attached to off and removed that too.

Things I have to swap 1- green Aussie acro 3 frags still available, grows very quickly, mother colony pictured below. 2- green start polyps- free if you don't have anything to offer, otherwise I'll take a common zoa or something. 3- open brain ( not a frag, but this guy needs a new home.) I stopped feeding this guy about a year ago. The pic below is the same coral before I stopped feeding him. It still opens its feeding tentacles at night and readily accepts food, it's just too much of a pain in the butt for me to do because my cleaner shrimp steals the food. Let me know what ya want and what ya got.

Thanks for the input everyone. I actually went to the archery hut yesterday, but it was closed. I'm gonna try again this week. I also went to cabelas but unfortunately after one week of googling stuff i knew more than the associates.

not like I need another hobbie, but I've always been interested in archery. I'm looking into getting a bow, but don't really know what makes a $150 bow different than a $500 bow. I wanna go with a recurve. Any advice on good places to get reliable info would be helpful.

Couldn't agree more with lexinverts. Coral need some nutrients to live.

The light is three LEDs that came with the kit. I like them, I just wish they covered more of the tank. I think the edges are a little dark. I'm not sure what other fish I'll put in there. I'm open to suggestions. The shrimp are fun. I'll have to put some in there for sure.

Hi all, I just set up a little 5 gal tank for my desk at work. It's gonna be freshwater because I will spend more time working on my tank than doing my job if it's saltwater. In any case, I'm just wondering if anyone in or around corvallis has any plants that they are going to trim. I'm looking for very easy to care for plants nothing fancy. Thanks!

I agree with higher thinking. My LEDs are higher off the tank than my t5s were and the light spillage is way better. I have OR t247s so I can't speak about any other lights, but mine don't bother me.
