fishmanmike01
Figured I'd start a thread. I'm sure ill have several. First off being, I know it will run without being hard wired to the router, but will it run fusion without it? I read its not wireless so I'm confused. matty
Get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-WNCE2001-Universal-Internet-Adapter/dp/B007CO5DZ4/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422982819&sr=1-4&keywords=netgear+ethernet+adapter
TheClark
Yep, if you do what Matty suggests, you will have the equivalent of a hard wire and yes it will work with fusion!
Pontus
You need to be hardwired to set up the unit and to update it as well. If I were you I would think about pulling a hard wire connection. If not and you have any issues or need to update software, you will have to run a temporary line anyway. You can run the wire from your current router in many ways. I took mine outside and went under a patio and back into the basement, where I installed a router. The connectors and cable can all be purchased at Home depot and assembled by almost anybody. matty
It's just like a phone line on the outside of your house, same wire just different end. I always just run a temporary line when an upgrade is needed. I do work for a cable company though so I have access to as much as I need. Mandinga
If you are worried about the elements breaking down the cable, then you are installing the apex in the wrong location...errr not ideal location. Outside the stand is best...side mount, or behind stand, or somewhere without high moisture. The only parts that need to be near the sumo are te probes, and those have long extendable cables. Also, the apex should have its own mounting panel, or board where you can easily move, change, and access the units. I've got mine mounted on painted plywood, mounted outside of stand. A hundred ways to do it...just keep it ultra dry Edited February 4, 2015 by Mandinga

To hard wire it i would need to drill a hole through the upstairs wall and go back in at the tanks location. I was referencing the portion of the cable that would be outside. Frank
To update you can use a laptop. Do have to hard wire. Apex it self is not wireless. If you need help fell free to call you have my number.

If so, one of those gaming routers works great

fishmanmike01
Does fusion only work with wifi? I can never connect otherwise.
Pontus
I believe Fusion will work fine with a wireless hook up. It is faster with a cable connection and I am in the basement and would need a signal booster. Its not an issue that would be hard to change later if you want. fishmanmike01
I have mine hard wired. I use my laptop and phone at home to play with it. Problem is I can't access it from anywhere other than home. Did some research and think I may have the router configured to not allow access from Internet. I'm completely computer inept so stuff like this is always a pain in the you know what. Figuring out how to write pump commands is melting my brain! Lol. TheClark
APEX Fusion I believe does not require router / firewall exceptions. I could be wrong, but give fusion a try just in case. Otherwise, there are some great tutorials on opening firewall holes, you just need to get your router model and google it up for router specific directions. Good luck! fishmanmike01
Had my brother figure it out. ( he's a computer nerd). All good now.
fishmanmike01
So I'm now trying to picture out how to program functions for my wp40's. As I said, I'm computer stupid so it's melting my brain trying to grasp it. Anyway question is , what is the "divide by 10" thing all about?
TheClark
Divide by 10 is about making time entries 1/10th of the size. So instead of saying on for 3 seconds, off for 4 seconds, with divide by 10 it is on for 0.3 seconds, off for 0.4 seconds.

Other than maybe dosing what application would you need finite control down to the tenth of a second?

TheClark
I am hoping to see some cost reductions as legitimate controllers come on the scene that can compete. I can no longer imagine life without it, vacations are allot easier with the APEX keeping a watchful eye on things.
