NoobtoSalt
Sounds like a little water splashed up on the bulb maybe. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Gill
Do you have any large fish that like to splash? I would think if enough water got on the halide while it was still hot it would shatter.

Droc88
I'd like to get another radium bulb I like how blue it is but I don't really have the money to spend right now I've heard some decent things about the pheonix 14k but I've never tried it I suppose I can give it a try
Gill
You should post a want add in the classifieds. Don't forget you need to mention the watt you need IE 150 watt SE/ 250 watt SE. I am pretty sure someone has an old bulb you could have/ get on the cheap to tide you over.
Kasasah
How old is the bulb? If its not that old I would request a new one from where you got it. Its very rate but a mh will blow up randomly. Doesn't matter it water got on it unless its a double ended. I've seen them with lots odd water and fine
reef165
I had one do that, explode I mean, it was my fault though when I was supper green I got a MH ballast at a garage sale and didn't know what watt it was and hooked up a 250 watt bulb, after about an hour it blew, come to find out it was a 1000 watt ballast :( But I was getting glass slivers in my hand for years after every time I touched the sand. Derbird
That makes for a fun evening I'm sure. Glad no one was hurt though. Is the tank alright, no new war wounds on the critters?

Droc88
Thank you for the offer on the bulb got a pm so I'm gonna get one tomorrow on my way home from work hopefully everything is still kosher I hope there wasn't any sorta of chemicals in that bulb that would hurt my fish or corals
Gill
I wouldn't worry too much about chemicals; this happens more often then you would think and I have never heard of it poisoning a tank.
ocboat
If the bulb you are getting doesn't work out, I have several 250w single ended bulbs that have about a year of output on them. Radiums, single ended phoenix, and several others that I can't remember right now.
snowpunk
make sure you address the issue. I had one explode from getting splashed. The bad part is I was at work and came home to find it much later. the light was still on and the outer glass was at the bottom of the tank. It killed off a fair amount of coral in my tank and all because I adjusted the korillia a little before I left. It was making a splash with one or two drops of water every few minutes and that was enough to do it. Be greatful you were home and the lights were off. make sure it can't happen again... Harold B
I JUST changed out all 4 of my Radiums they're 400w single ended, 2= 6mo old and 2 pretty well burnt at 9/10mo old. Also a bunch of old 6-10 month old XM 400w 20K's.
