frlejo
I have my sump in my unheated garage, tank runs 74 in the winter. going on 3 years, no problems. how may others do not use a heater, what does your tank run?
Burningbaal
I had a 50 watt in my 55 and it would only keep it ~74 so I just added a 100w, total 150watts now and holds at

ThePremiumAquarium
I have several 800w-1000w heaters in my systems. They are run off of Medusa and Finex controllers.

rgrcrain
I keep it at 78. I've always wondered if anyone has thought of putting on of those systems for under tile floors under a sump instead of a heater in the tank.
Reefsickness
I keep 1 300 watt in my sump have it set at 78 but I have never seen it come on my MH keep my tank at 80 deg thanking about a chiller
Smann
The new tank with the Tank Room and exhaust fans, air intake, etc I have to heat the tank or it will drop even with 400w MH. I have a PC heater/chiller but it was coming on to much so I put a heater in the sump to come on (75.5) just before the big unit (6 amps!). The tank stays 76-78+,chiller comes on at 79 but rarely only on those hot days, the tank room can run 90+ at the ceiling (temp probe) on warm days, average neither run. If it wasn't for that heater I wouldn't have any cords in my tank which was my original plan, oh well

Mr. Ray
When I ran metal halides I never ran a heater. Now with LED lighting, it's a must. Did my energy consumption really go down ? lol
Saltfinsax
I keep a under size heater going in my DT just so it dosent drop to much in the winter time. The little tanks in the garage have to have them.
Emerald525
I listened to Woody at Seahorse and didn't run a heater at first. That was fine when I had mostly softies and a few lps. However I had a Solana and a 250 W MH and it kept it pretty warm during the day but when the lights went out the temperature got really cold. The acans did fine but the sps did not do well. Mandinga
I wish I could get rid of my heater...I like a stable tank, but the history of heater malfunctions keeps me on my toes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
talkalot82
I have no heaters. and my tanks stay about 75. I worry more about the heater breaking and frying everything than I do about cold water. the pumps keep my tank at good temps for me.. I have more problems with the heat than with the cold. only my fry tank has a heater
