Nate213
how you like that doser? they seem to be the best stand alone doser out. It's very nice. Easy to setup and program. My only minor complaint is that I can't tie it into the Apex. But then again that is my complaint with everything. I would run my whole house off the Apex if I could. Nate213
Here are a couple of recent photos. Had a bryopsis outbreak, so magnesium is up over 1500. It is dying back pretty quickly, but it is still covering some of the rocks in these photos.

Nate213
I was going to save my new AI Sol lights for my new build but I couldn't stand it any longer. I have been tripping over the box for weeks and weeks. I got some free time today and threw a hanging kit together and mounted them over the 150. I didn't spend much time on the hanging brackets since this is a temporary tank. I think they turned out ok for how little time and money I spent. They need a little tweaking once I figure out what spacing I want to keep. Here are some photos. Used some aluminum channel for the brackets. I drilled some extra holes for future adjustments. The other end I used some D-rings and drilled the holes larger so I could use the existing screws on the Sols. Here are all four mounted together and ready to hang. The cross brace helps to hold them apart and doesn't really add any strength or rigidity. I used picture wire on the D-rings so I could just use two hangers. And lastly over the tank. This picture was taken before I removed my old halide fixture. I had a tarp over the top of it to keep any debris from falling in the tank while I mounted the anchors in the ceiling. reefnjunkie
Thats a great job with the bracket for the LEDs. How far out is the new build?
Nate213
Thats a great job with the bracket for the LEDs. How far out is the new build? I'm hoping to make it a winter project. I need the wife to approve the final design before I can rip and tear in the wall. I'm still debating on tank size.
Nate213
FTS with new lighting. I am really impressed with these Sol fixtures. I have read many reviews with people that claim they are not visually as bright as halides. In my case I think they are brighter. I'm starting them at only 30% intensity and quite a bit higher than the halides / T5s that they replaced. Light coverage is good with no visible spot lighting effect. (I had some spot lighting with the halides because they were so much closer to the water.) I am pleased with the LED upgrade, too bad they don't grow SPS. Mohaynow
those bad boys look sahweet! You might want to switch your ratcheting hangers around so the ratcheting part is on the light end of things. That way when you go to raise them you arent putting twice as much weight on your ceiling.

I had them that way but I didn't have an easy way to keep the ropes out of the water. So I swapped them around to the way they are now. I'm not worried much about pulling on the ceiling, I have the anchors drilled into the floor joists and the entire light rack is less than 20 lbs. Mohaynow
Right on! I have the same light hangers, they are awesome! Its also a little easier to lower the light with the ratchets on the lower end.
Nate213
Looks like the LEDs cut my power almost in half. And temperature swing is not nearly as drastic. I was getting 2 degree swing throughout the day, now it is about 1/2 a degree.
