KMiller
So next month we FINALLY get to start setting up the 110g! (clap) NOW, for the pressing question. Lighting. We were *thinking* of doing 250w halides until we can save up for LED's.. We have 4 250w pendants/reflectors. What would you do? All 4? 3 2? We want to be able to keep essentially anything in the tank. The dimentions are 60x18x24h.
lewisriverfisherman
A rule of thumb to follow would be 1 pendant every 24".
NoobtoSalt
I would end up being biased....(whistle)
Gill
I would do two. Is the tank glass or acrylic.
KMiller
It is glass. We have 2 over our 72corner and i feel like it isn't enough light..
Eugenereef
I voted for 2. I think 500w with a couple of actinic (2x54w t5ho) would be plenty of light. It won't result in a big electric bill either.
Mandinga
The real question is...what types if reflectors? I'd say 3 lumenbright minis would be perfection.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KMiller
There are 2 fishneedit (I know, I know) pendants and 2 just reflectors.. I would love to get some lumenbrights though!
Smann
I think Three Lumenbright Mini finished Pendants would work great(whistle)
stylaster
Since you tank size is close to mine, i have 120g. I run two 250w icecap electronic ballasts firing 20k radiums and that so far has been an excellent light source. Only other bulbs i have in with it is a 4 led blue moonlight. Im am looking into some supplemental actinic leds, but so far the 20k radiums have enough blue in them that everything looks great.
impur
2 Lumenbrights FTW!! I love my lumenbright mini pendant! I can't wait to break out my lumenbright large pendant its HUGE!!!
SquidHC
I had the exact tank you have, and I ran 3 250's spaced evenly. When I ran 2, I had a dead spot right in the middle and on the ends. 4 would be overkill imo.
Bicyclebill
Three would be perfect IMO. Heck with LED's! I was supplementing with VHO, but truthfully like just my (2) 250W 20K XM bulbs by themselves
KMiller
Looks like everyone else is as indecisive as me! LOL!
reef165
I voted 3 cuz if it is 5 foot long then you would have the light pyramid effect if you use 2, but with 3 you wouldn't.
MVPaquatics
4! you dont have to turn them all on...you can use 2 and then have a show off mode...haha! 4 would be so close to 10 watts/gal. Thats a cool bragging right...but seriously though I had 1000 watts on my 100 gallon before I upgraded and I only used the upper 400 watts like 2 hours a day max...like high noon EDIT: save money for LEDs before first bulb change! LEDs ROCK!
