Salt settled - drove up Mg level

Oh sure, you have heard of it happening, read about it....but it has never happened to YOU.

THat is what I thought. OOPS. my Mg level had crept up to 1700-1800 in my tank. I was thinking maybe it is the new Ca reactor and media, but decided to test some freshly made salt water.

sure enough, towards the end of the bucket I'm measuring 1700 for a Mg level. all other levels are fine.

I even mixed the bucket up when it was new - rolling it around etc. No dice.

I'm now thinking of ordering 25 gallon bags of Get Tanked salt.

Mix it up good y'all!

ps - if anyone needs some salt with high Mg levels come get it! ha ha ha

I think this is a bigger problem than most people realize...we have no idea how much "shaking" occurred in manufacturing, shipping, handling...I believe the cost of irradic levels needs to be measured in not what you paid for an inconsistent bucket but what you paid for the tank inhabitants you currently have...I have too much invested in time and money with my tank to "settle" for "I hope parameters are close"! That is why I use gettanked salt...I was uncompensated for this pitch...

What brand of salt "were" you using.

I have yet to see my Kent brand get anything other than 1200ppm at a SG of 1.0245-yep thats what it is 1.0245, not 1.024 or 1.025 -(laugh)

Curious as to the brand???
