Where do you get your LR...

I believe Reeferrocks will get you any shape or size you want. They will even e-mail you a picture before they send it to you. Personally, I think the best rock for the money is in a hobbyists tank when they break it down to sell it. You can get rock that has been bio-active for a number of years. This will help the stability of your future tank. Other than that, I would shop my LFS. It all depends on if you want to cycle your new live rock. Don't believe the online vendor that says they have pre-cured live rock. There will be die off during shipping. You can cure it in you main tank, but sometimes the curing process is smelly.

The kind of LR you want is very porous. Figi, Tonga, Marshal Islands, etc are specific to the area's they are collected. All you should worry about is size, how porous the rock is, and whether or not you like regular or branch LR.

LR is a big investment, but it is the building blocks to a successful reef.

You can cure in main tank, if it is a piece or 2 in a large system, DONOT try and add like 30lbs. You will have a bio disaster. Look at the posts and newspaper, see if you can find it locally, if you order a couple of boxes, your gona want to cure it outside the tank

Yes, listen to CCR. I was assuming you were talking about your new tank. Do not put uncured LR in an established tank. Bad idea. Personally I would cure my LR in the garage.

Don't worry! I pretty much know all about curing and that shipped rock will have die-off and needs to be re-cured. :)

I have a rubbermaid tub with skimmer, powerhead, heater etc. for the curing process.

I was more interested in what types you all prefer, and which online or local places you've had good experiences with.

And price is a consideration, unfortunately.

Personally I don't think Totoka rock is worth the extra money. I have gotten some and was not that impressed. My favorite has got to be Kalini Rock or Fiji Branch Rock. The Fiji Branch is not that porous but definately makes for nice aquascaping. The Kalini is very porous and has some amazing color and is just a little more expensive that the Regular Fiji Rock.

Sarah actually the rock you got was Tonga Kalini, Fiji Boulder and Fiji Branch.
