wanareef
Got this frag from Frank and it was in good shape. It's been in my tank for about 3-4 weeks now and just last night noticed this. Looks like someone took a half round gouge and made too out a nice part of the main branch from the frag plug and is moving up it. I have other SPS and they are doing fine, any ideas? Sorry for the bad pix - need to get another camera. DOH!
dsoz
looks like RTN to me. Unless there is a fish in your tank that eats corals. Have any angelfish? I have a pygmy angel that nips at some of my SPS, but not others... Only the expensive ones. LOL Seems to be a lot of problems with oregon tort lately... dsoz
stylaster
i would second with dennis, also check for acro eating flatworms, they tend to be almost the same color as the coral

Smann
If its the base thats turning white its pretty much a goner. Not sure whats going on but this has happend to quite a few folks lately including me!
madmike
My oregon tort is very sensitive to alk swings, notice small patches like that when my alk is not really stable.
CA2OR
wow...another one. Guess I wont be getting any tort....ever. Sorry to see this happening to everyone.
wanareef
I don't think it's RTN, it's actually "gouged" out. I'll try and tank a better pix. It's only on one side and RTN usually goes all around and then up.
Michael7979
If it is gouged. I would lean toward a predator being the reason. RTN wouldn't have that look.
wanareef
Here's a better pix
Rick
Do you have hermits? If so then they may be eating away deteriorated tissue. I.E. RTN could still be the cause whereas the gouges could be a result of something else cleaning up.
wanareef
Have hermits but also ORA plum Crazy and other SPS that are unaffected, just the Tort.
