Blue Z Reef
Buy a DC12000, a pinwheel and volute from me, and adapt it to the sro3000. BAM! DC powered beast!
TheClark
It's stunning how much air that DC12000 can produce. I am running the BlueZ DC12000 pinwheel on a 5' recirc skimmer. It about sucks your face off!
spilo
Ok how difficult is it to do all that because I have a dc 12000 sitting here collecting dust

The only part I'm not sure about is converting the threading on the outlet to match skimmer inlet.
TheClark
Wow that is an awesome position to be in. Get the volute and pinwheel from BlueZ. Then all you have to do is replace the impeller (4 screws, 1 clip), and adapt to your skimmer intake (home depot plumbing run). You can also screw a 1.5" pvc gate valve on the front of the pump and hookup an airline for a DIY adjustable volute, but that is more for people who like to tinker. I just find that as you adjust the pump speed, one size volute does not necessarily fit all.
TheClark
I have an SRO 3000 here from a buddy, looks like it uses a custom slip fitting. A rubber like ring around the bubble blaster threads, pressure fit into the skimmer body. It will take some tinkering to adapt but it looks do-able. spilo
Seems like these threads on the skimmer are metric... so that'll be fun
TheClark
You can also drill a new hole in the skimmer and pop a uniseal into it. That's what I did to mod to a recirc. Of course you still have to plug the other hole, but it saves space not having adapters.

Drill the other side as well and use a uniseal with a plug

Some people have taken to calling others "a" hole since you can't say the other so we added it to the swear filter. .. Guess that doesn't really work in a practical sense.
