Your welcome!! The animals just dying no, but acts of vandalism.......... don't forget I had a store and insurance.... It may not have went down that way at OIAB but at SWF.... there's a reason why he went on tv and acted so upest and puked out the 40grand in corals, 40 grand [language filter], maybe 2.

I also have been thinking this. There is no way those 2 tanks had $40k worth of coral. I know when I was in SWF the other day they were very eagerly awaiting a call from the insurance company so I would assume they filed a claim.

If this was in fact vandals then it makes me sad. If it was some sort of fraud it makes me more sad.

I wont comment on the value claimed (me be quite-DOH! the world must be ending) but its more than the 2 tanks. Its was every tank and his main display, only ones not hit where his fish tanks. He also has 12 -14 tubs like OIAB has in his back room and its all plumbed together into a single system

40K thats a lot of coral, I only have 19-20K in livestock my tanks(whistle)

After running a shop i can say you would need a HUGE shop to keep 40k worth or coral in it unless you had nothing but high end stuff. And as far as insuring livestock... aint gonna happen. even for vandalism. i checked with every major insurance company when i was starting and not a single one would cover livestock in ANY situation.

This suck for the shops involved, especially for OIB who got hit once, tried to build back up, and got hit again. We need to help these guys out if we can. it just isnt right.

I think that this is terrible. I also think that to jump to conclusions as to who and why will only make things worse. But in the near futre if you have to go to a fish store we should visit one of these shops. Share the love suppport the hobby. Keep your eyes peeled when you are shopping be an extra set of eyes and ears. Lets band togather and help these guys out!

Seriously, this is messed up. People jumping to conclusions isn't great either. If it's two shops, its probably real and who knows, could be your tank or your dream someday. Running a small business is tough and things like this are no way to lose out on all that hard work. I hope they find out who it is.

Could you imagine if it got to the point where all the tanks and sumps were closed up and you had to be escorted through stores? Ugh, no thanks.

I'm heading down to SWF shortly to see what new stuff he got in. His new email stated they are still trying to recover from this. I can't imagine what they will end up having to do with all of the tanks that had the copper solution in them. Can you ever get rid of that stuff completely in the tanks? Or are they now just all going to have to be FOWLR's?

You can get out the copper and they have done so. Ive traded a few colonies to them since its happened.

I agree with those that have said "help where you can"

I just snagged a nice looking harlequin shrimp. They were extremely busy and had a nice fish selection. Had some nice looking LPS as well but it's not my thing anymore..(laugh)

I just got back from SWF and the store looked great coral selection was a bit limited but all things considered not bad. I picked up some sand paper to buff some scratches on my tank =)

Must have just missed you
