I'm interested in the Aqua SD Aussie Bonsai. I'll shoot you a PM.

Try to mount the led from the sides instead of from the top.
Also, I would put some sort of acrylic box around it to prevent water splashes once algae fill the screen.

I wanted to do that, but given the space constraints I went with an overkill light and mounted it above so that the refugium shares the light. Here is a picture that might help show the setup better. The light is a Mars Aqua led with grow spectrum for plants. It seems to grow algae like a champ.

Cool, nice job. So, do you see an impact?
I think it is too early to tell. I would like to believe my phosphates are lower but the Salifert test is hard to read at low levels and I can't be sure it moved lower yet. If it turns clear then maybe I will say yes.

Looks good the only thing I see is it appears to be touching the water line. With mine I tried to be just above but the lower algae was falling off and getting pumped into the display. Which I think has a lot to do with my current algae issue
This was more of an accident than by design, but maybe it is a good design after all. When I set it up I realized that it was a little longer than I expected.

I put together a pretty basic algae scrubber under an LED grow light in my refugium and it seems to be progressing nicely. This is my first time setting up an ATS--please tell me if you see anything that I should be concerned about.
If I was doing this again I would have taken pictures without the grow lights on, but at least you can see today's picture in that way.
This progression covers 6 days. I teed off my return pump and put what I think is a lot of flow through this scrubber although I haven't measured it. Originally I was going to use an MJ1200 to run it, but decided to reduce the clutter in the sump and just split a line off the return pump. I would guess this flow rate is similar to and probably a little higher than the MJ.
Now, should I expect my skimmer to start putting out less crud?

I'm tempted...cool little tank

Drill two holes, get a Herbie style overflow kit, call it a day.
+1 for a Herbie. That's what I did on my tank and I'm happy with the result.
It's quiet and I don't fear overflows with the emergency drain.
It does take a little tuning so make sure you have a decent adjustable valve.

Frequent water changes might be a way to get away without a skimmer on a small setup.

I'll take one. I think I'm qualified.
I just rejoined and paid dues after almost 10 years away from the club and I am going to be at the meeting this month (with my wife Lindsay and baby Paxton).
This will be nice add to the zoa side of the tank that I am working on stocking up.

Awesome acros...so when do we get frags?

I paid the extra few dollars for the aquarium safe version just to be sure even though I thought it was probably unnecessary. Consider risking your total investment and the decision is easier.

Not a problem. I live next to downtown, welcome to come by this weekend.
I'll be around the area mid morning to mid afternoon. Let me know what works.

Common name would be Blue Agave. I call these particular morphed kind.....Patriot Agaves, because of the red, white and blue patern.
Those are awesome!

I tried to PM you, but maybe your box is full?
I am going to be running a few errands around on Sunday. How does Sunday mid-afternoon work for you? I could do morning too if that works better. -
I'd like to have one. I'm just starting to stock my tank since getting back into the hobby so I don't have much now, but I could send a frag back to you in the future.
And...I live in St Helens now, but I'm in downtown Portland daily.

Another idea is a discussion about proper fish and coral QT techniques we all seem to get pests or sicknesses at one point of another so we could all use some work in this area lol.

Perhaps some discussion of dips and techniques too?

How many yumas would you guess are on that rock?

Shoot. I'm up in Scappoose and travel to NE Portland for work. Not exactly intersecting with your commute.
Can I get some from you? I live in St. Helens.
