Google "bean animal overflow" and you will find some more complicated, but quiet and safe overflow configuration.

Beautiful tank--can't wait to see it filled.

I used to use a piece of scrap acrylic that I got from Taps for like $2. It was better than the magfloat, magic eraser, flipper, kent scraper, and credit card which I have also tried.

 

Acrylic doesn't scratch acrylic go figure.

That seems obvious but I never thought of that.

I'm setting up a new tank that is acrylic so I'm looking for good ways to keep the acrylic clear of algae without scratching it.

I've seen the blue mag float, but I was wondering what other people are using and recommend. 

What are planning to stock it with?

Nice tank. I don't think you have the "too much rock" look even with the addition.

While I like reading the seemingly endless forum posts about this hobby I decided to spend more time this year reading old fashion books.

I've read a few of the basic books and a couple more advanced ones, but I would say I probably should read more of the books that are out there. 

So, before I start buying books blindly or by Amazon review I wanted to check in here for some local opinions. 

What is the book that helped you the most or has been a go to for solid time tested or relevant up to date information?

I'm interested to hear more and perhaps see some pictures?

I checked the Beaverton HD and they had it. After posting this I decided not to put it under my rock in the tank, but I still needed some for the sump. I'm going to use short pieces of pvc under the rock for stability which should be less problematic for an animal rooting around in the sand.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I didn't think about the fish issue. Do you think it is still a problem if the eggcrate is under rock mostly and not covering the entire bottom?

I looked for eggcrate at my local Home Depot and they don't seem to stock it anymore. Does anyone know a good place to pick some up locally?

I'm not picky on the color as It will be for mounting rock to and then covered with sand. Alternatively, what else could I attach the rock to?
