M thinking about switching to halides. Probably a dual 250 watt setup so when I upgrade to the 90 I have enough light. As of now I have a 40 breeder. I will probably run a single bulb over this, Needing a canopy built my questions are
How high should I run the bulbs above the water
can I run both? Or is it too much?
Should I supplement with T5 or will the halide be enough?
Best bulb temp for blueish coloring, but not overkill blue

Who makes custom tanks? Do they do glass tanks? I'm looking into maybe getting one built.
Thanks.
Wanna reef I believe is who I talked to very fair price, it was acrylic with a bean animal overflow. Wife punched me in the face and said no lol

Arminius has a sweet deal on ballasts and reflectors.

Yea I'd love to have his but wife put a hold on spending, Christmas shopping, and I bought a bunch of stuff for my next build. That's why I'm trying a trade.

I just ordered 7 jerseys and 11 prada purses hope this guys legit

Love the look of the new scape' date=' much nicer than the fruit stand/wall look-IMO[/quote']
Thanks! I like it much more this way too. The rock wall was just cluttered. This helps so much with water flow also.

I've seen people run the blue floss looking per filters on the return side and them cause clogs. If its your only option it's by far better than not having one at all!!

Patrick and Lisa have never steered me wrong. If your unsure about keeping him they will gladly take him back. Awesome people to deal with.

Actually a pixy hawk is one of my favorite fish.
Pixie hawks are awesome!!!

Makes sense, I didn't really think of it as like a closed loop, I was just talked out of a scwd and directed towards a sea swirl. But I am in no way a pro at this yet haha! I wasn't trying to sound like an *** either hope you didn't take it that way.

I'm going to play devils advocate, I had a hawkish in with zoas, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, a clown, spotted puffer, I never once had an issue, he just perched up on rocks and hung out.

Thanks chad! Eel is doing great! He will soon be in a bigger and better home!

Random water flow correct?? Scwd is like a 2 valve setup where each valve opens opposed to the other, creating random return flow. Sea swirl oscillates to create random return flow right? Pretty similar to me.

He is still at a point where he could drain the tank and drill it, even retain the water he has with a few jugs. Or just buy an overflow box. I see he says it's his living situation, but I feel a sump is much more fool proof than a hang on back for overflow issues etc. that's one thing to keep in mind. Either way ya go good luck and the tank looks good!

I would look for a used sea swirl, work much better and used most people sell em crazy cheap!

What's causing you to move away from t5's?

I'm planning an upgrade to a 90 so I'm wanting more light. I'm either going to blow 120 dollars on bulbs for this or get a MH

Incredible build!

either way I would kill it.
+1 on killing it

I've Been looking also. There are a few guys that build custom tanks on this site and for good prices too. I'm just too much of a tight wad lol
Also Garrett at TPA in Salem had a super nice one not long ago for like 750 with tank stand sump custom built and nearly brand new

Pretty much like an odyssey light but has German material for reflectors 6 bulb, built in timer, moon lights, mounting legs. One cord controls all 3 sections. It's 3 months old. I want a 250 watt halide with reflector and ballast. Must be in good working order.
Help with switch to halides
