  1. dual 250 on a 90 should be fine' date=' i'd run them around 8-12" off the water with a good hammered reflector. supplement with 2 t5s for additional color options only.[/quote']

Awesome! So if I'm going to run one over my 40 breeder until the 90 is done is the height apx the same? Higher? Lower?

  2. M thinking about switching to halides. Probably a dual 250 watt setup so when I upgrade to the 90 I have enough light. As of now I have a 40 breeder. I will probably run a single bulb over this, Needing a canopy built my questions are

How high should I run the bulbs above the water

can I run both? Or is it too much?

Should I supplement with T5 or will the halide be enough?

Best bulb temp for blueish coloring, but not overkill blue

  3. Makes sense, I didn't really think of it as like a closed loop, I was just talked out of a scwd and directed towards a sea swirl. But I am in no way a pro at this yet haha! I wasn't trying to sound like an *** either hope you didn't take it that way.

  4. I'm going to play devils advocate, I had a hawkish in with zoas, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, a clown, spotted puffer, I never once had an issue, he just perched up on rocks and hung out.

  5. He is still at a point where he could drain the tank and drill it, even retain the water he has with a few jugs. Or just buy an overflow box. I see he says it's his living situation, but I feel a sump is much more fool proof than a hang on back for overflow issues etc. that's one thing to keep in mind. Either way ya go good luck and the tank looks good!

  6. I've Been looking also. There are a few guys that build custom tanks on this site and for good prices too. I'm just too much of a tight wad lol

Also Garrett at TPA in Salem had a super nice one not long ago for like 750 with tank stand sump custom built and nearly brand new
