  1. I'm sick of seeing this thread!!! Seeing this thread at the top everyday makes me want to leave this site more than anything! lol
  2. So the weekend is finally here! Time to start working on my new tank. Any suggestions on how to switch all of my stuff over from 55 to my 110? I'm thinking I will put all of my rock/coral/fish into a couple large rubermaids with half of my water, then move the tank away from the wall. Move the new tank in the old's place, then pump the other half of my water into the new tank and transfer the sand, letting the sand settle for a while. Put like 30 gallons of new water in the new tank and start moving coral/rock in. Anyone see a problem with my plan of attack?
  3. Just picked up a skimmer and a sump from the vice pres. I'm happy that it is finally the weekend... Gonna be able to set up the new tank this weekend!!!! Whats the best way to remove coraline algae? (from an empty tank)
  4. The stand looks so so.. It started life as a nice oak stand but has lived an eight year life underneath a saltwater tank. If you gave a lite sanding and some fresh stain it would look pretty good, the hood on the other hand is straight plywood... Not that appealing, but it functions nicely and is sturdy. I'd sell both for $50.
  5. My tank came with one that he built, and yes they are pretty nice. You should see what my 55's stand and mismatched hood look like. You could take a dump on my living room floor and most people would prefer to look it instead! Oh yeah, I have a stand and hood for sale too...ha
  6. I've thought about it, but I like to have some extra space underneath the tank. both tanks are 48" long
  7. Oh yeah, My old tank will be for sale soon, if anyone is interested....
  8. I think that I just might have the best wife in the world!! She let me purchase a new tank(nutty).. I have upgraded from my 55 gallon Truvu to a 110 gallon glass tank. There are a few thing that I will need before it gets to come out of the garage and into the living room (pump, skimmer, and possibly new sump) I freakin cant wait till this weekend, tomorrow and friday are going to go by sooooo slow, I just know it.(sad) If anyone out there has any good skimmers or pumps that aren't all used up let me know. As for the sump, it cant be any wider than 16 1/4". I am super pumped. Thanks again Cosmo from OIAB
  9. I'm not trying to drop a bomb on anyone... I think this was an honest mistake. the lfs traded me back the fish for more than it was worth, and to say the least, I left a -still- happy customer. Also i've learned a valuable lesson. I had no intentions of naming names, I just wanted opinions on how to catch a fish (and was in a state of panic/frustration as I had to sit and watch a fish eat some expensive colonies).
  10. caught it! Half of my reef is in tuperwares on the living room floor :(
  11. I know what you're saying about the butterfly... I don't expect anyone to know that i had worms, which is why I continued shopping at this lfs. I considered that mostly my mistake, besides it died shortly after that anyway of unknown causes???
  12. It's only a 55, but with lots of LR and is pretty stocked with coral. I'd like to avoid removing the LR if at all possible
  13. If I catch it I am taking it back for sure. It's only free if you catch. I mean, I live in vancouver so to take it back wont be a very far drive
  14. This is the second time that the same guy has sold me fish that ended up being a bad choice. The first time it was a copper banded butterfly that ate my worm rock instantly... I'm Pissed Off
  15. I was sold a koran angel by a lfs and was told that this was a reef safe angel. It's been in my tank for two weeks without much of a problem, but i woke up today to find one of my favorite lps corals all shrunken and chewed on. I have since witnessed this fish pecking at it and another very nice-expensive coral. I need this fish out asap. If you come get it out you can have it - any ideas of how to catch this thing before it ruins my tank
  16. I want to add a reactor to my reef tank to control the phosphate level. I've heard about different ways and I've narrowed it down to either granulated ferric oxide or phosban. Was wondering if anyone had any advise.
  17. I have been a professional welder for over eight years (since i graduated high school). My specialty is TIG welding aluminum, titanium and stainless steel. Building a stand out of mild steel would be a breeze for me. I can also powder coat any color you would need. I've been thinking a lot about making an aluminum stand lately (for weight savings and corrosion resistance). I can show you a portfolio of my finished projects to prove the meticulous quality standards that I hold myself to. I would like to help you out.
  18. Finally a place that is close to home! Got some good deals as well
  19. Hey thanks for the info Rick, i'll have to try that tomorrow (its bed time!) For these pictures my method was to hold the camera directly up against the glass so the flash's light was forced through the acrylic rather than making a bad reflection. Your way sounds like a great idea.
  20. I really like your videos! tank looks [language filter] good. are you satisfied with a 150? I'd like to get a bigger tank, but not sure how big i need to go in order to keep myself happy for more than a year
