I'll be getting a pair of both eventually. A friend of mine is the only one importing them, so i'll let the hype die down a bit so he can supply his customers. New York aquatics was has/had a pair for sale of the Johnsoni for $799.99 if anyone was interested.

I bit the bullet on lighting... Tuesday: So all LEDs parts are in, so its time to get started. Details of the setup are as follows: 48 XR-E Q5 Royal Blues 48 XR-E Q5 Cool White 2 - 24" Heatsinks 4 - Mean Well ELN-60-48Ds (0-10v Dimmable) All above items purchased from Bill @ www.reefledlights.com. Bill is a great guy and i would recommend him and his company to all. Heatsinks: One corner out of 8 bent from shipping. Its only the very corner fin. I may or may not try to bend it back. The dollar bill is there to show you how much money i have left after buying all this crap... 96 LEDs pre-tinned and Blues mounted on one fixture in under an hour. I wanted to submit this pic for the photo contest. It's reef related...right? Wednesday: Wired Blues: Wired Whites: Test Fire Blue Good: Test Fire White... not so good. Looks as if two stars are not firing. Solder points are good, not sure what the deal is. Today: Solder Joints were not good... 2 out of 280 solder points isn't that bad. Kevin

I use the Blue and White when taking pictures of fish. I distribute for Mr. Aqua Rimless tanks and the panel fits perfectly over the 12" cube. I really have no use for the all Blue one though. k3v

Not sure if this is nerdy, but i've been a gamer my whole life. Started way back with colecovision. I think i've had every console since. I'm 33 years old and have a 360, ps3, and wii. My 360 gets the most play. Kevin

What worries me is that you mentioned tide pool organisms. I know i am a bit closer to the equator than you are, but you would be surprised what PAR levels the sun puts out. There was an old report done on the Waikiki Aquarium outdoor tank. All readings were taken at 24" of depth. (A lot deeper than your average tide pool) Mid day this tank peaks at just over 2500 PAR! Even at noon when the tank is shaded by a large palm tree the tank runs around 750 PAR. (source: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/feature.htm) Lets say your sun puts out half that... You will be pulling algae from a 1250 PAR range and putting them into a 50-60 PAR range. We will never put out PAR numbers like the sun... I think your algae will have a tough time with the acclimation. I do collect zoas from these 2500 PAR waters and acclimate them fine in 350 -500 range, but i know they would be hurting under even 100 PAR. They would be fine for fish only. My tank (pictured above) is 15" deep, so keep that in mind. Not sure how much light they would put out in a deeper tank. Kevin

All Blue: Surface: 180-200 7 Inches: 100 15 Inches: 80 White & Blue: Surface: 120-150 7 Inches: 80 15 Inches: 60 Blue/White: All Blue: I set up the camera on the tripod and started to compare. Same settings through out. I compared the two panels to a single ATI Blue+ 24" T5 bulb (not overdriven). The T5 is first, Keep in mind it is 24" long and the panels are only 12". I have PAR numbers for these fixtures... I'll have to get them for you. Give me a few minutes. Don't waste your money. I bought them to test as I couldn't find anybody that had. If they were sufficient, I was going to line 12 of them over my tank. I have 96 Cree XP-Es arriving Monday instead. Kevin
