  1. Considering the population of the sea lions I can see that being an option, to hunt, but that would be really hard to control considering the circumstances right now. (the economy) The government would make a lot of money off of it but it would cost us a lot more. That isn't what it should be about, like it was the salmon when they were running strong. I'm not a political person. If they are coming from Cali like they say, there lies the problem I would think.

  2. Just wondering what everyones views are about this killing sea lions to save the salmon population. On the Willamette.

Me personally I think they gave up too early and need to trap and release but make sure they check the traps sooner then later to avoid mishaps, and I don't understand why fisherman are upset that the sea lions are eating salmon, where they fish in numerous numbers themselves?! I love to fish but come on! You crowd 20 fishermen in one spot is that any different than a group of sea lions? (I fish in remote areas, no people, calm and peaceful) Just my .02 (whistle)

  3. This may be a really dumb question and maybe should be in general or beginners but here goes. Do all softies close up at night? If I was to put some moon lights in there would they still close up? (scratch) Just curious is all. :D

  4. Yeah, I'm really happy with them, they were opening up some not minutes after I put them in there with just a lamp light on to see what I was doing. The light colored xenia was attached to the rock the next day and looks like it is already on the move. lol The larger xenia split, and tried to split again to get off of the rubberband so it is in a hole with very little current and hasn't tried to get out all day. The Sinularia is still pretty small, opens very little then closes up but has been in the same spot all day as well. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope yours opens up soon as well. :( Are those zoo's or a type of button polyp? I knocked them off the rock a couple times but they open back up the next day if I don't keep bumping the rock. :p Very happy with all of them :D

  5. I was just reading up on the bristle worms and +1 on the nylon, also a pvc pipe about 6-8 inches long with holes drilled in it just big enough for them to crawl into, place bait inside, cap the ends and set it in the tank when lights out. Pull it out in the am. Sounds like a good control method if anything. Something I am looking into myslef. :D

  6. I will look for something like that in case this doesn't work. ATM it looks like I got it in there pretty good. Have to wait and see. Looks like I need to get some more pieces of rock for times like this in the future :D Here is how I got it in there now.

  7. Thanks Smann I will have to write that one down. That is where I had it the last time before it worked itself free, this morning it is out in the open just laying there, I will try it again.

  8. Well, Chromis isn't the problem now, will the coral live if it free floated into the cave area, there are gaps under there but not sure if it will work its way out or not to reach light. If it will die in there I will try to reach it and try to get it to stay put again another way. Pretty sure it is a colt coral, pics above of it.

  9. Thanks! All it is, is a cut piece of background from the LFS off of a roll, the other side is sticks and stones like a river look. Kind of a pain though it keeps getting wet between the tank and it because I don't have any thing at the top sealing it from water dripping down. It is better then looking at the wall and the HOB filter. :D

  10. I just got this coral and it seems my Chromis has taken a liking to it. It gets looking good and then it will be really small again. I caught my chromis swimming next to it, touching it like a clown does an anemone, then it pecked at it. Is this normal or am I going to have to get rid of a fish? Not sure the name of the coral either.

  11. Update

So, I recently acquired some goodies from smann, (clap) Thank you Smann! I am still confused on what is what so I won't label them this time, I will get them mixed up I'm sure. Had a little bit of a problem with my big snail cleaning the rubble on a couple of them and disturbing them  but they are doing pretty good. Got them 2 days ago. Here are some pics.

The first one here was ripped off it's toothpick and rock and was on the bottom this morning, it is slowly coming out of me doing surgery on it, ughhh I don't like sticking them...

  12. Well they all did just fine, I was gone for 2 and a half days. Everyone was still alive and kicking. Thanks everyone I didn't worry about them either :) If I do get an auto feeder for a longer trip, I will get it a week in advance just to be sure it works right.
