  1. I think you're missing my point. You said:

So you are saying that the spill in the Gulf won't really matter because the ocean is a big place. So given your line of thinking if we take Portland (big place relative to your house) and dump 1000 gallons of oil in your yard (small place) if really doesn't matter now does it?

You might also want to do a little research on what a lack of dissolved oxygen does to the wildlife. Hint - it's called a dead zone for a reason.

On a related note - this morning on NPR they had an engineering professor form Purdue on who has been analyzing the video footage of the leaks and his numbers are scary - like 10X the current estimate scary. It's just one more data point that shows the oil industry is out of control and takes far too many risks. Time for the Feds to bring some thunder down off the mountain on these turds. Fossil fuels are a dead end - we need to turn the page and get new technologies developed now - not when we are sopping up the last bit of petroleum with a paper towel.

Scientist: BP's Oil Spill Estimates Improbable

and here's a link to some of those seepage and other numbers. Please note that the natural seepage is ~10% of the total - the rest is man made:

I agree to disagree you didn't get my point either, not worth discussing to me anymore.

  2. I still have the Frogspawn if you want it' date=' its under T5's and doing well[/quote']

Oh okay I had forgotten about it (laugh) I'm not sure when we will be in the area but I will try to make it soon. That will be about all I should put in there for now and probably ever till I get another tank someday :D

  3. No prob Noob, it happens :P

My Sinularia? has attached finally so it won't be long, I will be getting ready, (gotta get my clowns first too) I have one more spot for a coral and that's all folks :D

  4. Fish can outswim a lack of dissolved oxygen? Your 'sea is a big place' argument is really going to go over well with the fishing and tourism industries along the gulf states. Maybe its not such a big deal if I dump a few thousand gallons of oil in your yard? I mean Portlands a big place right? Also I'd like to know where exactly "the something worse" is currently going on?

Sorry if you feel I'm being harsh but ignorance like that just gets me going.

yeah maybe if you put that much oil in my back yard it would cause a problem....duh get real dude! My opinion and don't put a yard as an example come on you can do better than that, try maybe if I had acres and acres of land then do that, you want to see my patio? One quart for my car would cover it......move on.(nutty)

  5. I agree that the planet is really good at taking care of itself, they have done a really good job of keeping the oil off the shores as well. (clap) That is where the animals get into trouble most, fish can swim (laugh) I don't have any fear of it, the sea is a big place and it is a very small amount if you look at it as a whole. There is a lot worse things going on in the world than that. (whistle) I do believe they need to put up some kind of wall around the oil rigs for disasters like this, why they haven't as a safe guard I don't know. (scratch)

  6. I've lived in NC and TX to name a couple places where I lived and pumped my own gas and live in Oregon now and I would rather pump my own gas because I can make sure my windows get washed when they are dirty (without asking) getting all the gas out of the hose and I don't have to worry about the idiot spilling gas on the side of my car......(enforcer) I could care less about anything else. (laugh)

  7. LOL Newfisher! I had some of the xenia that wasn't doing so hot and it pulled off the rock just fine with a couple tugs. Obviously by the sounds of it you can't hurt it much, maybe a sharp non oiled razor blade and something to grasp it with to trim it if you don't want to get rid of all of it?

  8. I can see the snails are doing a great job ;) Hard to see the fish and rocks but from what I can tell it looks really good, very nice! Do you have a mag float for at least one side of the glass to clean for viewing? They do wonders getting the haze off of the glass. (thats all mine is good for, it's really small)

  9. I have one and it has fazes where its out and great then small for a few days. It got stung once by another coral but a branch survives and I moved it took a couplle weeks then it was back out. Mine hasn't growns to fast. my tank is tiny a really full right now and I have no proble with it. I also Have a 90 gallon eheim on the tank and a aqua clear 50 on the tank running a surface drain so I gues I have the filteration for it. being a fifteen gallon and all. but I think its just beautiful in my tank. I think its easy to keep. just cut off a branch every once in a while and giv it to some one...

Is that the spaghetti finger or the devils hand you are talking about? They look different to me, so I am guessing that they are two different corals, I am interested in the spaghetti type, I like the looks of it. ;)

  10. Oh good, they need another one to hang with :D They have there pecking order. Big Chromis chases little chromis, blenny chases big chromis, it's quit comical, so they could probably use the distraction of other fish. It's not going to be fun catching them may have to get a trap.

  11. Good luck with them Jules, if I had logged in today an he hadn't been able to find anybody, we'd of taken them LOL

[language filter] what the parents(future in-laws for me) have to say about it LOL

LOL I hear ya, I'm a sucker for animals as it is, and I have been without anything furry for a long time now, lost a dog 3 years ago and haven't really had the urge to get anything till I saw these little guys. :D I won't spoil them at all...(whistle)

  12. Yeah had them from the start but I think it is time to get something a bit more entertaining and easier on the eyes. :D The three of them are entertaining in their own pecking order way....but I'm ready to move on. My tank is pretty well settled now I shouldn't have any problem getting something else. I really hate to do it too, but....sadly I am.

wow vanz you are in beaverton cool, but Moovinfast you have first dibs though. If I can give them t someone rather then the store I will do that for sure. Can't get the clowns right away but hopefully within the next couple weeks if I can find some locally at a reasonable price.

  13. I have 2 Bluegreen Chromis and a Bicolor Blenny that I am going to partially trade for a couple Onyx Clowns if they will actually do that. I don't see any point in sending them to the LFS if someone wants them. They are all healthy and fed well :D Let me know, I am in no hurry (whistle)
