  1. Thank you, and yes they are turning out to be a couple of little pigs. It's fun to watch them eat.
  2. A pair of clowns Thank you Oceans in a Box.. I picked up these two for my 12 gallon. They are a happy pair, a little spat here and there but not too much yet. I am glad to finally have some fish in this tank now. (They are the only fish in there)
  3. How are those mantis shrimp? I looked up some info on them and they are some awnry buggers! Thought about doing the same thing just to have something in there now that i got a 20g started. They seem to be pretty entertaining at feeding time from what I have seen.
  4. Sporting his new shell....I really loved that snail :(
  5. I know this is kind of an old thread but I witnessed a bristle worm nip the tail of a peppermint shrimp that went missing not long after. It and 2 chromis used to sleep under a rock at night and all three just dissappeared one by one and I am almost positive it was a bristle worm because I had a ton of them at the time. None bothered any corals though. The seem to have died off now since I don't have any fish to feed atm anymore. ) I see a one every once in a while.
  6. Yep, that is exactly what i have. Defiantly heading out today to get another.
  7. Oh really? I didn't know that. I have had that in since the beginning and haven't had to touch it. I would rather be safe then sorry though. Thanks for the heads up.
  8. No, I'm going to turn it into a planted freshwater tank.
  9. Update. I had moved all contents to a ten gallon, then moved it all back when i moved to a new location. Everything but the cerith snails survived. (I didn't take them out of the sand during the change, oops). I bought 4 more. So, just a blue legged hermit and the snails atm. Nitrates are very high and I need to get a nicer clean up crew in there to get it into tip top shape for a couple more fishes.
  10. I didn't have any problems when it was full of water. Had it full for about a month. I did have to smooth down the edges because they were indeed a bit sharp.
  11. I everyone, I haven't been on in a few months, but I am trying to get back in the groove. I just bought a used 20g tank for $100. It seems to have a somewhat decent set-up on it. Marineland H.O.T canister filter w/ some type of skimmer attached to it(seems really cheap) and a HOB wet/dry marineland filter system. I have sw and about 1 inch of fine sand in it with the biowheel running. (2 days now) Still need to get some live rock for it. My 12g is doing pretty good, no fish left in it my Blenny found a way to get thru a tiny gap and...well...you know how that goes. :( My hermit crab took over my nauss shell.....cerith are just a snack for him now, he moved up to a bigger and better home. I was trying to get a good pod population going after moving and I think I over did it trying to put a little food in there for them, my nitrates went thru the roof before i new it, so working on getting that down atm. Still not sure what I want to put in the 20g yet. The 12 I think i will get maybe some sexy shrimp, (the ones that dance?) little things like that, no fish for now. I recently moved so
  12. Cancelling the 10g idea, i bought a 20g with a pretty decent marineland hot set up on it. 10g didn't really have enough room in it for my taste, it will be a tropical tank.
  13. Sorry it's been so long since I have updated. I had to stop, my ferrets I adopted seem to have a common ferret disease called adrenal disease. So I am at a stand still for now with my tanks. Be back soon I am sure. **** happens.
  14. Can I get some insight on this please. Is the all in one supplements good to use? If it is okay is this a good brand or is there a common one that most people use? I was considering getting something like this since I have one coral now and an algae that may need more than what my tank can give them atm. (halimeda algae and gorgonian?) may have spelled them wrong. (whistle) Thanks J http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=reef+supplements&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=15417669547170812026&ei=FMK_TMCrBYussAP1stTnCw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CC4Q8wIwBA#
  15. As Rick stated Gill, I researched about it and felt it was safe enough for that size a tank. I wouldn't try it on a bigger tank though.
  16. Here is my 10g so far. I made an overflow, painted the cabinet. I am putting everything from my 12g into this. I will have a DIY fuge in the cabinet below as well. 1. Before 2. the overflow 3. everything paited
  17. Yw and good luck either way you go.
  18. I would love to have some of the Halimeda algae. One bunch somewhat small.
  19. I agree too many can be a bad thing, I suspect they killed everything in my tank that liked to hide under a portion of my big flat rock. (peppermint, 2 chromis) bi-color blenny didn't hide in there he is still alive. I saw one grab my peppermints tail one day is why I suspect the worms. You may want to wait and see what becomes of the LR you already have, I started out with only a few and have tons now.
  20. cool, glad it's a good guy. Thanks everyone.
  21. I think there is only one of these but I never see the whole thing only this much of it. Does anyone know what it is? I want to say peanut worm but i don't know for sure. Thanks.
  22. Thank you Reefit, very helpful and ALMOST how I pictured it. Sounds like I need a couple things to prepare for it. Sounds simple enough.
  23. I have changed my mind about that set-up. I am just going to transfer everything from the 12g to the 10g, put a fuge/sump under it. My reef needs better lighting so this way I can make a top and get some good lighting for the ten. The tanks don't look so good next to each other either. Sooo, what is the best way to transfer everything from my 12 to my 10? Should I put everything in a bucket with the old water and place new water in the tank with the sand and then aclimate everything after the sand settles? The 12g is going to be a freshwater planted Dwarf Puffer tank.
