  1. I need the hanging kit for my 150w sunpod. Buy or trade - Thanks!
  2. Have a 50G Bowfront Clear-for-Live Acrylic w/ Stand and Canopy sitting in my Garage that I'd like to free up room. I may be moving and won't have the space to set it up - besides I'm already in the process of setting up a 30G Cube When I got the tank, the previous owner had used a Glass pad on it and there were a bunch of fine scratches. I've buffed it from top to bottom and it looks great now. Stand and Hood could use a coat of stain though. Looking to get $150 out of the kit. Thanks. - Matt
  3. Ok thanks, I'll try doing this today. appreciate the help!
  4. thanks all!! So, yes there is a cap but no it's not drilled (on purpose so far). My understanding of the durso standpipe, the intake is pointing down and the hole in the cap is to create the siphon, the narrowing of the pipes at the bottom of the standpipe promotes holding water in the pipe so there is no waterfall, thus no noise. In my case, since there is no overflow the intake is pointing up which pulls the water in but also allow air in, there is no siphon because of that too. The cap actually cut down on some of the noise. I could reverse the intake but I don't think my sump could take on that much water in the event of a power outage, I'll have to measure it. am I off here? Also, currently the intake on the return pump in my sump is pointing down, this I think would create an issue if the drain pipe for some reason clogged up. The aquarium would have to hold most of the water in the sump. should the intake on the return pump be pointing up and long enough to be a few inches from the expected water level in there? hope all this makes sense and thanks!
  5. 1st time plumbing a sump and I currently don't have an overflow on it. I see suggestion about a durso and other standpipes but all are generally geared to having an overflow. current setup is - 1.5" bulkhead with a return pump rated at 900gph. 27G Tank w/ 12.5g sump. quite a bit of sound still at the top, gurgling. picture in the next post. Even a pointer where to go read up a bit and or if I just need to get an overflow on it to remedy the sound..etc. Thanks for any help.

  13. should have said <19" long, not wide - it's a 27g tank so doesn't need to be a huge sump. Thanks for the link though dee77!
  14. Has to be 19" wide or less. Thanks - M
  15. In the spirit of the ocean there are so many lines that bust me up from this movie... "Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a Whale's Vagina."

  20. I have a 40G planted aquarium like this - I'll get some pics and post. Been meaning to, just hadn't had a chance.
  21. Just noticed one of my emerald crabs last night opening up it's whole underside like it's on hinges. There were a bunch of little white dots inside, I don't know what the crab was doing, but it was using it claws and almost looked like it was flush water through...etc. very cool to see. - M
  22. so - again, the speed and input from this forum is really great! Now, I'm not the best at communicating in a timely manner all the time - hence my post 2 weeks later Great news is that it's all gone now. Because of the move (and I added a chiller) I think the tank went into a cycle because the params bounced a bit. All params are in order and stable now. Alk is a bit high and PH a bit low so re-balancing that with some water changes but should be good pretty quick. feeding is once a day and enough for them to eat in about 1min and just a bit for the scavengers to pick up. thanks again for all the info - it helped!
  23. Sleep Apnea Yep, makes a big difference. I was borderline. Bit of getting used to but not bad at all. - M
  24. Anything to be concerned about or just control with lighting and not overfeeding? Better way to clean it up other than a siphon hose? Only have 3 snails for the 15g tank. I could probably expand the clean up crew too. Thanks for any thoughts! - Matt
