  1. I got a few of those on some live rock I got, they seem to be spreading a lot faster than I would like. I wouldn't let them off that rock either.
  2. http://www.marineandreef.com/Aqualight_Pro_Metal_Halide_48_inch_Coralife_p/res53506.htm.
  3. were doing a little better than that since we don't have any kids yet, but anything extra we can scrape up is being set aside for the wedding. I did at least become a paying member to support the TFT program. Honestly we wouldn't even have our own tank if the money for it hadn't been gifted to us, but hey when you love something you make it happen. Teaching falls into that category as well as anything ever could, no one would do it otherwise.
  4. Best of luck, sorry to hear about your troubles.
  5. lol ... it's the destroying of your friends that is so satisfying. I prefer strategy games to reflex games, maybe it's my poor reflexes ... lol.
  6. DoW2 is an RTS, based on warhammer 40k. Definitely worth a try. The Company of hero's games were great as well.
  7. for sure, we've only been waiting like a decade right! No leaked beta's out yet that I've heard of, so it's probably still got a ways to go. YOu guys play Dawn of War 2? I thought it was pretty good.
  8. Ha ... looks like I found some prey! SC2 here we come...
  9. so far as MMO's I'm playing Aion (barely) right now. Other than that I'll play just about any RTS. I played WOW but it never really keeps my interest for more than a month at a time. Honestly I don't really have the time to sink into MMO's right now... not sure why I have the Aion account active still.... if you like RPG's I highly recommend the Gothic series. Plays kinda like the elder scrolls games but I like the feel of them a lot better. they are much harder as well.
  10. Ms. K doesn't have a tank yet. I'm willing to put a little money forth, but we are both living on a single 1st year teachers salary while I finish school. I have a couple of clowns and a bit of live rock from my sump that I'll move over there when we find her one. Her classroom isn't terribly large so some sort of smallish cube would probably be best if someone has something they want to donate or sell to me cheap so I can. I know someone has something in their garage, I know I did until I moved but they were large for her classroom.
  11. She said that her application was accepted. We just got done moving so I'll get her on here to introduce herself. we have a pair of clowns that we will move to the school once a tank is set up, as well as a couple of frags. Her screen name is Ms. K I believe. BTW Mr S. where/what do you teach? Both of us grew up in Salem. I'd be surprised if at least one of us didn't at least know some of your previous students.
  12. took about a week for me to get my banner... But I couldn't remember my [language filter] paypal info at the time. should be faster if you used paypal. you can always PM JManrow
  13. Global warming aside it is my opinion that it is wise to limit the contaminants that we pump into our environment. With the prevalence of many diseases on the rise, one wonders what about our environment or our lifestyles may be causing these changes. While some of the global warming people getting rich off their campaign, I think that it is clear that the biggest polluters, and thus biggest opponents to the campaign are making exponentially more money as a group. I must also state that fraud has always plagued science, that is part of the reason that institutions that fund research require researchers to consult with review boards. I just woke up so the most recent example I can think of was in reference to cloning. As we are all probably aware this did little to discredit genetic engineer's as a class of scientists. If one were to search for peer reviewed articles on the subject of global warming one would find that a vast majority of the research on the subject supports the theory. Though this is in no way conclusive I think that it important to remember that here in the US whoever spends the most money usually convinces the public, very few of us have the time, or the patience to read scientific journals. They are also prohibitively expensive. If you are all so passionate about this subject I would love to see some citations of some actual evidence to support your claims. Otherwise it's all just a bunch of whining to me. Global warming or not, I like clean air. About job loss... I'm getting ready to go to start working on my PhD in I/O psychology. Most consulting firms hire people with this background to give you an idea of what it entails. without getting into too technical I can tell you that some sectors of employment are going to erode regardless of our environmental policies. None the less we expect many industries to have a shortage of employees. The bottom line is our economy is changing and our educational system is failing to prepare people to enter the job market. What it really comes down to is that if your kids want to have jobs, they are going to have to go to school. I know that this is probably offensive to some that are feeling the heat of the recession, but a recession is just temporary and doesn't really have much of an impact on the long term labor market. The real problem for most is that 40% of job growth is in industries that will require at least an associates degree ("Training in Orginizations", Goldstien & Ford, 2002). Manufacturing for the most part is stagnant. I don't have much time now but I'd be happy to get you all some more info in the job market later, I for one find it fascinating. not even sure why I had anything to say here at all... just like to rock the boat I guess. Maybe I should talk about what the actual post is about? It seems like it's folks who raise freshwater fish in ponds who are having the trouble. shallow bodies of water are much more sensitive to changes in heat, I wouldn't worry to terribly much about our beloved saltwater fish.
  14. what are those blue guys w/ the gray looking skirts. they are really nice! That single PD you gave has 4 babies now btw 2 are open and 2 the other 2 should any day now.
  15. I seem to have some snail eggs... they are laying them like crazy. I think this is what they are anyhow. I'll snap some pics when my camera is here and update everyone on the tank a little. It seems to be doing well so far. http://perso.infonie.be/pomacea/neritina_natalensis_uk.htm it says these ones are freshwater, but I got the link from another saltwater forum and the eggs(white spots) look exactly the same.
  16. love the lion fish idea ... lol. If I didn't have other small fish that's how I'd get the damsels out of my tank. As it is I think I'll go get some glue to fix the fish trap instead, since I finally have a day off.
  17. Shoulda rocked him w/ a headbutt! They never see that coming...
  18. I just assumed he wanted something pretty for the entertainment center ... lol. That is certainly an option as well.
  19. At that price point I've had pretty good luck w/ HP. The one problem that we had with one was a loose monitor cable (common laptop problem), and if I remember correctly bestbuy replaced it for us on the spot. this was about 5 years ago and we have had 4 since (2 were stolen) with no problem at all. Of course the g/f buys the 5-600 dollar model and I buy the gaming quality notebooks. Hers certainly runs hotter and slower than min but that's what you expect at less than half the price. If you have a Costco membership I would go there, good prices and the best [language filter] return policy around. You can [language filter] near break it in front of them and they will give you a new one.
  20. In that case it may be cheapest for you to check out a "media extender" that allows access to the content on you PC (PC needs vista premium or ultimate). Otherwise you can get a micro atx board w/ everything built in, select a case you like and buy a processor and ram for about $500( plus the cost of your OS should you choose to pay for it). either way you will probably want to buy the biggest HD you can get your hands on. Check out www.geeks.com they run some great deals sometimes. I can help you to select hardware when you decide what route you would like to go if you would like. If your PC is decent I would just go the extender route, an Xbox360 can do this as well but some of the other units do a better job of it. Even a PS3 would suite your purposes if you are using an external drive. The game systems don't play some formats but that doesn't matter unless you plan on pirating a lot of anime, or HD content (most HD files work these days). For DVD rips they would work fine. I can also help you w/ ripping and compressing your DVD's when the time comes. They also make HD bays that act as media centers for $100-200, from what I hear they work pretty well, you are just limited to one drive when you do this.
  21. Honestly it really depends on what you want if you just want the media center functionality you could do it for a few hundred bucks by just buying a unit and a hard drive. Once you decide you want an actual fully functional computer it is a bit more expensive. Still you could build something for 5 or 6 hundred bucks that would be nice. PM me or post exactly what you want it to be capable of and I can come up w/ a recommendation. I used to be a hardware tester for Intel, so I'm fairly knowledgeable about these things. Right now tho, I just use a mac mini someone kicked me down. I don't recommend this tho, they are spendy and require an external drive for extra storage. Look at the micro atx cases and see if you like the look of any of them, that is certainly what I would build. I just priced a sweet unit on amazon for 300 not including the case. You could build a monster for 5-700 dollars for sure.
  22. man I wish... got a few years before I finish grad school and have a permanent place for such an impressive setup.
  23. I had some of the stuff he has in the bottom left of his tank. The tangs loved it! Can't remember what it is called tho and I'm still unpacking my books.
