  1. I think I'm leaning towards the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Good thing I got a deal on my tank ... camera's are spendy.
  2. I think I want to go with something that I can change the lenses on. The g/f likes to take a lot of different types of photo's. personally I only need to take pictures of my tank, and other projects. Just figure If I'm gonna buy something new I should aim high.
  3. Hey all I'm going to be looking for a new camera as the g/f filled the old one with sand DOH!. I'm not really up on what constitutes a nice camera these days but I know I want to go fairly high end. If anyone has anything they want to part with or just has some advice let me know. post here or just give me a call. - Tony 503-990-2349 (it's a Salem number)
  4. don't suppose you know the pounds per cubic foot? Sounds like I'd need 200-250lbs depending on that weight. not too bad at that price.
  5. I'm gonna need something for that 150 bow front I just picked up ... you guys gonna be at the gathering next weekend? I was thinking I wanted to use sand but I'd like the chance to talk it over with you guys before I commit. NOOB... how much you think I would need?
  6. well the tang was still being mean with lights off so I just went ahead and rearranged. Everyone seems to be happy now that the lights are back on and there is some exploring to do. Thanks for the help!
  7. bump... everyone is acting kinda skittish, what should I do?
  8. Hey all I picked up some updated lights yesterday and all of the sudden my yellow tang(nutty) is chasing my clowns around. He doesn't seem to have a problem with the fire fish but he hides a lot. I went from a pair of VHO T12's to 4 65w PC's. What can I do to improve this behavior, the clowns are my girlfriends favorites and I am rather partial to the tang. both setups are 50/50 daylight & actinic blue, but I'd guess there is about twice as much light now. Will this pass?
  9. Yea the 18" measurement is at the back of the bow, I figure it's 24" at the front of the bow so I'm guessing 150 is right. The guy said he had a friend that owned a pet store in CA that hooked him up with all the stuff. It's in storage until we move tho, I'll get it cleaned and measured and get pictures as we set it up.
  10. I believe it is. it's 72X18ishx24ish seems right to me?
  11. Sorry about that! I wish I coulda gave em more for it really ... they were some really nice folks in a tough situation. I promised them pictures as it get's up and running as it's all I could do. G/F woulda killed me otherwise(wife) ... had to give them extra while she wasn't looking as it was.
  12. well I just picked up a 150g bowfront w/ stand for a deal I just couldn't pass up. It also came with a old 55g, 2 - 48" coralife 4x65w PC's, a refractometer. quite a few various pumps, powerheads, filters, and heaters. all for $150. I gave them an extra $50 becuase I thought it was appropriate, still $200 seems pretty darn good to me. Now I just need to find a house to move to so I can start setting it up!! At least the lights make my 55g look alot better than the crap I had on there. Anyhow once I get it all sorted out and get a new camera (so I can show you what the hell I'm talking about) I'll probably need some help figuring out how some of the equipment works. There was a phos reactor, pieces to a skimmer, and some various boxes and such that I'm not really sure about as well. STOKED!!!!(clap)
  13. Gratz! May the birth be quick and painless.
  14. good deal. you can deffinately get the calibration liquids at a hydro shop then.
  15. good thing someone corrected me ... all my meters have been for testing water for plants. In that case I only have the 7 and a hydro shop probably won't have the 10. you could call around tho. I just looked up my meter and it says it measures all the way up to 14.Anyhow, If you have a model number you should be able to find the manual online (depending on how patient you are) to see what it reccomends.
  16. I have calibration fluid. I'm in Portland tho ... you should be able to pick some up at your local hydroponics shop for around $10. I know Northern light and garden is in Salem but I'm sure there is something closer to you. Let me know if you can't find any and we'll work something out. Some meters have 2 dials for calibration and some have one ... if it has two you will need both 7.01 and 4.01 calibration fluids if it has one you should be fine with just the 7. hope this helps.
  17. a 6ft 180G is what we were planning on initially. It's really just a matter of what we find a good deal on. I actually supposed to go look at a 250g 8ft setup over the weekend. Might be a bit much tho. So far as the garage goes it's rather difficult to build things in the living room ... lol. The tank goes inside for sure!
  18. Thanks! Now if I can just learn to attend to life outside the tank as well...
  19. I recently aquired a "free" 55 gallon saltwater setup off of craigs list. So far m tank has been doing very well, tho I must admit I may have purchased a bleached Sebae that my be my frist casualty. It's eating tho so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Anyhow as you can immagine my "free" tank has sucked up quite a bit of money so far, so I've decided that I may as well just go for it and upgrade. I was thinking of going with somthing in the 150+ gallon range. probably I will keep the 55g to use as a frag tank at some point and convert the 20g freshwater tank I have to a QT. I've pretty much read the entire DIY section, but I currently have no garage (terrible isn't it) so it is of limited value. If anyone is feeling charitable w/ thier time/space or equipment please let me know. I do have some money to spend, I'm just a seeker of fabulous deals. Anyhow I look forward to meeting you all. thanks to the volunteer at Rose City that pointed me to the group.
