  1. I have a couple Cal Reactors, one is home made, the other is a Coral Life 250.

Coral Life circulatesfrom top to bottom , the other is Bottom to top.

Does anyone have an opinion on which is better, and for what reason.

Im getting ready to hook one of these up for my 75G Reef.(rock2)

  3. Lookin

Hey Tony, I have a Ca reactor that I use to maintain my Ca and Kh. On my tank I like the KH at around 11-12 and Ca 450-500.

My reactor/controller keeps things steady presently KH 10.8 and Ca 420-using salifert kits.

This was all dialed in by using my "old" PH controller that ran the solenoid on the Co2-So I cant help with the 2 part thing.

I bought a new controller and will sell the PH controller-and not that I'm plugging for it-but that unit used with a Ca reactor, it was "set it and forget it"-It kept things rock solid steady no swings-

Controllers rock!! But they are extra cash to-tons of folks use the 2-part but I got a deal on the controller 125.00 vs 200.00.

Shooting for a KH around 10 should be great and Ca 450-IMO

Hey Im looking for a PH controller if your selling your old one(plotting)

Im waiting for one so I can hook my Ca React to my new 75G.

Sorry I cut in here.. Im just sayin

  5. I recentlly aquired a few Pieces of Acrapora and was wondering, what everyone feeds them and how often?

Besides lighting, what are some of the things you check? what are signs that they are suffering?

I dont want to ever get close to loosing them!!!!

    So what do you do?

    Thanks

  6. Thanks

2 teaspoons kalk per gallon of RO is the dosage you want.

But start with the skimmer airline bringing in fresh air. I would bet that will bump your pH up to where you want it. Best to do things slowely as usual in this hobby. Try the airline first and give it a day then retest. If its still low, then you can move on to the next thing to try.

Also you should get a second test done by someone, test kits are so finicky. Its always good to have a second test done.

Thanks Impur, Ill give the fresh CO2 a try...

  7. Thanks

Looking good. You should really be able to grow some sps with 400's on a 80 gallon tank! What 14k bulbs are you using? Be carefull with the yellow wrasse. I bought the same one a couple months ago from Jason's' date=' he really enjoyed eating all my snails and crabs![/quote']

Thanks Mike, The 14000K is a Plusrite.. I think its alright, but I have my XM20000 on the right side of the tank where the Corals are...I have had my Wrasse for about 8 months and he doesnt touch any of my Crabs or Snails. As for as I know!! I havent noticed and empties!!(laugh)

  8. Thanks

    Your tank is looking great!

Thank you...Im still looking to do alittle aquascaping. And I have some frags I need to get mounted, but Im very happy with it..

    ;)(rock2)

Im going to have to change my Avatar, now that that tank has been takin down.

  9. So How many Monitors do you guys have. I am looking into buying a PH Monitor, and I have heard some people have one in a catch basin for there Efluent from the Cal Rect. Then I wondered, should there be another be in the sump to check how they are evening out?

    What do you guys do???

Maybe someone has a cool Monitoring setup for sale ?

  10. KALK

I've had low pH with similar alk/calcium levels. I added kalk to my topoff and the venturi from my skimmer is now bringing in fresh air from outside. You may just have higher CO2 levels in your house. Just need to drive off that excess CO2 from the water' date=' best done by aeration with fresh air.[/quote']

Ill try that.. How much KALK for 95 Gal..I run my intake from my Skimmer outside if I can see if that helps with the PH...

  11. Yeah' date=' plus an alk of 8 with a Ca of 520 seems out of whack. Might be worth taking a water sample to an LFS and have them double check your results.[/quote']

I thought so too... I'll take to UPSCALES and see what they think...DOH!

And it will give me an excuse to go to UPSCALES, I havent been in a while...
