  1. Thanks Guys!! Yeh! Time has become a major factor for me to enjoy this hobby!!! Anyway, I am home today and tomorrow if you would like to take a look at these corals. I'll try to get pictures but most updates in this tank are very recent (not much changed ) http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?28855-My-90g-LED-reef-Enjoy-and-feel-free-to-comment&highlight= Check out the latest posts in this thread to get an idea what I have. Thanks
  2. Due to very busy schedule, its becoming harder and harder to take care of my 90 reef setup. Its been 4 weeks since I have spend more than 10 min in front of the tank :( So, I am trying to sell all the livestock in my tank (mostly sps, $5.00 to $50). There are some large colonies of bird's nests. here is the picture of my 90 g tank. Lets start with corals first and then we will move on to other things. I am in no hurry but want to start moving these coral.
  3. (laugh) Wow we are really scientific now (laugh) I like your growth tracking pictures. and I have to say the colors look really good too. Let me know when you are ready to frag some of these. I have had similar experience with LEDs. Although, there was a huge problem of hair algae, it has been resolved and my corals are back up and recovered very very quickly. Just took some pics myself with my phone and thought I'll share one with you on your thread!! The polyp extention is great!!
  4. An Update: After about 2 months of controlling temperature on my nano, this controller is being put on my waterchange system. The controller has worked flawlessly until a week or so ago when I noticed the temperature in the ank was off by 4 deg (the tank felt cold to the hand and second thermometer quantified the difference). I notice that the cualk from the thermister has come off a little and so the conductance had changed resulting in higher reading of the temperature! When the sensor is outside the water, temperature is accurate with in a degree to my home thermostat. I am going to follow-up on Topher's suggestion and look for this "plastic dip" in HD to resolve this sealing of the sensor issue.
  5. Thanks for chiming in Topher. I am glad the thread caught your attention (I was too lazy to send a pm out to you after I found out the thermostat itself was bad!) I have to look into this plastic dip. I did not know about it. Which area in HD should I look in for this plastic dip. From a recent LED project, I had some thermal epoxy left over and was thinking of using it. but then, it has aluminium and boron in it and I am afriad it might leach out in the tank. The plastic dip might be answer here!!
  6. Got it! Thanks. From the thread it looks like it is going to be reef carnival! I'll bring drinks for the party! oh no not the party.. MEETING
  7. Can you post the address (or pm) to us new people here. I would really like to go to this meeting as I have heard Soooo much about your setup! Also, it will help to put some faces to the popular names here on forums. Thanks. Upinder
  8. I had one like this a while back that grew into a very nice colony. The guy who sold it to me use to call it acropora with neon green polyps (laugh). And really that's what it is (naughty)
  9. I just took the liberty of putting the frames in the post for littlenano. I think this is before: And this must be the after: Totally awesome!!!
  10. And yeh! I have compleletly dried out my tank fund for the next few months:)
  11. Thanks drock59! Yeh I ordered 56 LEDs and 4 dimmable meanwell drivers yesterday. They should be here tomorrow. I have pulled all stops on the lights after I saw my nano in LEDs . Glad to hear that your SPS are doing good because that's what I plan to keep in my 90g!
  12. I actually ordered LEDS for my 90g today. My t5ho fixture will be up for sale soon too
  13. I traded mine for a filled one for $9.95. I think next time when I trade my tank, I'll let them know that I won't be back for another year, so if he can pick one with recent test. That way I can keep the tank up to date.
  14. The place in Springfield is A1 fire protection. I don't remember the exact cost, but was around $25.00 for both, the test and refill. The aluminum cylinders need to be tested every 5 yrs and stainless steel ones every ten yrs. If yours is steel, you may be in luck. The fire protection guy told me to leave the tank with him for a day since it is a lengthy process to test these tanks. I didn't know that. I thought that you can get rid of phosphate by dosing kalk by the way of precipitation.
  15. that's for sure coarse media! I am using the same stuff and clay is right. The magnesium in this media is sufficient to keep the levels in the tank. Hydrostatic tests need to be done every 5 yrs. I just exchanged a 5 lb cylinder at the welding shop on 11 th street. The air gas guy was sending me to a some place in springfield to do the test but on my way to springfield, I saw this welding place and stopes to ask if they could the test for me. The took one look at the tank and said the due date is today and I can trade this one in for a new one right now !!!! Phew! Got a new tank for $9.00 without any tests. Some time these fancy places can give you run around for nothing. My tank was brand new three yrs ago and this guy in airgas was making all kind of bs like there is a corrosion ets. So I would recommend to take it to a place like that if you want to save some money.
  16. Not clear from several posts in the thread what all is available. Could you please post an updated list in single thread of us late comers to the thread! Thanks!
  17. I have been following this thread and have always wondered if how much influence the room air or outside air will make! It's hard to argue with data: But then, I am trying to understand what percentage of CO2 you will have to have in the room air to make a difference. based on what I know about composition of the dry air (Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases), you would need a lot of CO2 in the room to have effect on the pH of the tank (enough to make one dizzy)! Another thing that is confusing to me is that people who run Ca reactors (including me), pump CO2 in the tank and once regulated and optimized, the pH does not get influenced much (mine varies between 8.19 to 8.27 between night and day). Any thoughts to help me better understand this phenomena?
  18. Also entertaining offers! I'd much rather sell it here than to ship it out to somebody in RC.
  19. Any chance you will frag the Torch! If you do, I'll take two or three heads.
  20. Looks like no interest here. Off it goes to RC
  21. Up for sale in Milwaukee SMS122 pH controller in excellent condition. It has worked for me very faithfully controlling my calcium reactor (now I have switched to Apex). It comes with power adapter but NO pH probe (still has its plastic film on the display, but it is USED ). The new ones go for ~$110.00! asking $75.00 from club members before putting it on RC. Here are a couple of pictures: Thanks!
  22. Interested if it still available. Any Pictures?
