  1. I am interested in your electronic testing equipment. what are these?
  2. Thanks Guys! Ok The pics will be up tonight when I get home. Miles: those were healthy buggers! the polyps opened right back out in 30 mins after I put them in the tank!
  3. It was awesome to deal with you. And thanks for the free bees! You new cube is really nice! Simple and elegant. Thanks again, Upinder
  4. Actually it works very well! first time i went in the swap, I spent $250.00 DOH! learned my lesson there! next time I went in with fixed budget, left my wallet in the car and took my wife with me (she has had "line item veto" policy long before US congress adapted as law (laugh)(laugh)). That kept me in check and not spend all my paycheck on corals!(naughty)(naughty)
  5. yep! Many people had hi res 11X8 pictures of mother colonies to show what the frag is going to look like when it grows. Very very helpful for buyer and seller both!
  6. Back in Madison we usually had two frag swaps a year. Typically, they will rent a venue and volenteers would setup the tables. Each table has a price associated with it ($5.00/table for members, $25.00/table for LFS). People renting the tables would also pay for the electricity. It was a huge success and a lot of LFS/private parties would would join in all the way from Chicago!! Each visitor would pay $2.00 entry fee and the ticket was used for raffle. LFS also use to donate stuff for raffle (1 every hr). All the money generated would go for paying the expenses. I remember haveing frag swap in a church and second on at firestation! Usually one of the member would have connections to such venues and the club would pay for this frag swap. It was a lot of fun and everybody looks forward to this event. Actually there were members who reasied corals just for swap and were allowed to presale/preadvertise in for sale fourm! Here is one such link from there recent frag swap: http://www.madisonreef.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9832
  7. Just wondering! New comers like me could use these events to populate our tanks!
  8. Phosphate!!!!! Lot and lots of phosphate!!! Here is just one of the link about these. http://www.wes.army.mil/REMR/pdf/cs/mr-7-3.pdf
  9. yep! That's exactly what I had except DI-RO to reservoir that was controlled with float valve then DIY kalk reactor then to sump with float valve at the end.
  10. Works like a charm. Used I in my previous tank for years without any issues. I was feeding kalk so I had to rinse it once in a while!
  11. The title should read " Green coraline algae". These smart iPads do corrections on their own. %#^}*
  12. Finally my nano is stabilizing and the rock has started to look aged. A little frag of zoos was compllety closed but is now back open(rock2) a good sign. I had a cyno outbreak in the tank last week that was effectively cured usin chemiclean ( my favorite cyno treatment) and I don't expect to see it back ( I think it was just a new tank syndrome ) The rock is now covered with this green crystalline film that looks like coraline algae. Has anybody seen a green coraline algae? It's not hair or other bad algae that I know of and quite frankly, I like the looks of the rock. Here are the pics! Comments? Thought? Experience with this situation?
  13. Thanks, I was hoping for someone who is using LEDs. I want to know how the corals are behaving under LEDs.
  14. I am about to change the CF bulbs on my nano and was wondering if I should replace them with DIY LEDs. I have seen a lot of threads on led builts and some pictures but never really seen one in person. To me those tanks appear very blue. Does anybody here have some experience with LEDs. Thank!
  15. I debated like you and went for the new one! $ 30 to 40 is not the worth the risk (of running into problems at RC) not to mention the direct contact with supplier/manufacturer in this case. It is an expensive piece of equipment in the tank but I really like it. It is a big and heavy motor and gets slightly hot, something I would not want in my tank!
  16. Thanks Jon! I guess I needed to hear that . Even when I know this!!! I really wanted to grab some corals from Kim as she is moving! But now I'll have to wait until this tank cycles completely. But yeh! Resetting this tank made me appreciate how easy it is once the things get roiling. I had totally forgotten the pain of starting a new system and all the initial work associated with it! I am sure this will be worthwhile once this guy is completely setup! For now, going through the salts at a very high pace.
  17. So I decided to do fishless cycling as it is more humane!! Added ammonia to the tank to about 4 ppm and then checked it after 12 h. The level of ammonia had gone off the chartsDOH! The dry rock seems to have some roll in as well and the nitrites were near 0. I was hoping that ammonia levels would drop to half, about 4 ppm in a week but they didn't. Anyhow, I changed about 25% water and let it go for another week. Checked the levels again and the ammonia was still at 6-8 ppm and nitrites were off the chart! The test solution became purple immidealty after addition of second reagent!!! Changed another 40% water last nightDOH! And now the ammonia levels are around 2 to 4 ppm. And nitrites are still off the chart. So my cycle has started but man I cann't add anything to this tank(flame) have to wait another 2 weeks or so! Seems higher ammonia levels just killed everything and my cycle stalled!
  18. Birthday suit!!! Nahh!!! I'll use the suit I got married in (naughty)
  19. I don't think you will have any issue with fish. its a very short move and if you want, you can bucket them in different buckets. I have a couple of empty buckets if you want.
  20. This looks like a in wall setup from the frame molding Can you imagin if you have the guest while you are cleaning the tank !!!
  21. If yes he better had taken shower and dried himself good!!!
  22. Sure! I work during the day! What time are you planning to move. Please send me a pm. I can help moving the tank in evening, I can help for sure.
  23. You have a lot of good stuff. I'll don't remember exactly the things you had. I'll have to stop by to call the dibbs interested in (if you have some of these!) Sps, zoos, frogspown, Hammer etc
