The doors leading to my basement are kinda small so with the width of the tank I have to build the stand into the basement, or build something that can be bolted together.

Not sure what I am doing for a stand. I will probably build one. I have built all my other stands and was happy with the results. I have not seen the acrylic demo with the rounds in it. Is that on his site or something? I didn't know he was one of us.

For some reason the way I have my dart plumped I get sound resonance in the DT. But honestly I think my tiny might is just as quiet as the dart, and Darts are very quiet. Bump for a good price!

I have one of these and its quieter than my Dart. I must have got a quiet one. Seems to be a good pump so far.

Just getting it out there that within a few weeks I will be selling my 30x30x30 cube. construction is all glass. Back is drilled for a closed loop with two 1'' returns, a 1 1/2'' for the closed loop return and another 1 1/2'' for the sump return. No overflow box currently, I just had an upswept 90. Tank doesn't fit through basement door, so I have to move it out the daylight basement window. This takes two people, three of four is better.

I change mine when the water starts to rise, but before it overflows. Usually about once a week, and by then the color is starting to brown a bit.

Ya he gave me a lot of very good deals when I first got started. I didn't know it till I had been around a little while and learned the pricing.

Nice guy, he really helped me get started in the hobby. But after being to other shops, I just never went back. He never had the stock and never set up his show tank after the first move. I really liked that show tank he had before.

Dont run 250w bulbs in a 400w ballast. They will explode. Sounds like your ballast might be a problem but it could be that the bulbs you got just look like that. Take them to a fish store and have them tested on one of their ballasts.

I enjoyed reading his build thread on RC. That was a cool set up.

I might stop by and take a look someday. I don't even have the tank yet. I am looking into having it built so it will probably be a few months before I even start. Just brainstorming for now.

I'm a sparky, I can do anything. I done a Lot of wall and trim work before.
