    That's a very cool picture!
  3. granted.... it's been through a year of abuse.... I just got this tank back after a bad break-up in which I wasn't allowed to take it with me.....
  4. I'm new on here and everyone says they LOVE pictures so here is some of my wet friends. I'm no where near close to figuring out how to photograph like all of you but will try. Enjoy! I'm not really sure how to post the pictures exactly so any hint would be loved!
  5. How funny! That's a cute picture!
  6. I've got 125 main tank and was thinking about 50 - 75 snails. The shop right by my house wants $3 each and although I like supporting locally can't go $3 each when I can get them for less than $0.75 and get them shipped to my door.
  7. Thank you! I'll check them out. I hate shipping the guys cause of my work schedule and not being home when they get there. I kinda like helping the local guys anyways but I'm open to anything!
  8. Good Moring! I was just wondering if anyone knows a local place (Portland/Beaverton) (possibly Eugene in two weeks though) to get Nassarius snails or any good clean up snails but cheap. The shop I go to only has a few and fairly expensive really when you start thinking how many times over. My situation is that I recently got my 125 gall tank back from an ex. The tank didn't fair well. I have replaced water, chaeto, lights, ballast, sump, on and on. It's an expensive hobby as we all know. When I got it back a VERY few coral are still alive miraculously but the clean up crew is gone. So I need a large quanity on a small budget left after the mechanics complete. The water is fabulous again, lighting superb, system is a go...... just want to keep it that way so when I start to restock coral in a few weeks it's all happy! Thank you for any thoughts!
  9. I've just got a Olympus 770c digital. Takes amazing pictures honestly but I haven't figured out the through the glass aspect. I've gotten great close ups of other things too. I'm not a photographer type though....
  10. THAT'S HIM!!! It is a peanut worm. That second picture onthe link is definately my worm! Thank you!
  11. My kids loved this type of toy. I had ont that was a larger version and the kids loved to pack it around. Great in the car cause there were so many parts for them to keep themselves occupied with.
  12. OOOHHH ...... I'm new as of well.... today! I missed out on the last month of COURSE! Just my luck! We'll I'll keep my eyes out for thoughts! and hints!
  13. They only time I've seen them out is at night when I flash a flashlight on the area. They don't retreat when there is a flashlight on them but they are to fast to catch. I've considered removing the rock but I wouldn't be able to get them out anyways. I too wondered if they are filter feeding if they are fine just to keep around? I'll try to get some pictures but I have yet to figure out the secret to taking such amazing underwater photos as those I see on this site!
  14. I am brand new to the forums and loving the pictures. I can't ever get this quality picts of the corals though? Anyone know a site with helpful tips? on how to take pictures of our underwater friends???
  15. Another question??? I've found a number of black worm type creatures living in a single rock in my tank. They do not come out of the rock except to stick their what I only can assume are heads out. What I have seem of them they appear 6 inches long. Black on top with lighter grey/white underbellies. They have no legs, antenna,no bumps, no segments, they look like litle black smooth hoses. When the head does come out to "feed" it's mouth will open and feather like pieces emerge... making it look like a feather duster. The mouth folds back in and it slides back in it holes all very quickly. I've tried to catch it on film but it's very fast. Any thoughts?
  16. Ahh.... That makes sense.... can you tell I've nevr had gas heat but same principal to wood probably!
  17. Brand new on the forum.... had tanks for a long time though. I was jsut wondering why gas heat in a house matters? Does this affect the avaporation per Barelycudas response?
  18. Can't even imagine the looks on thier faces..... oh the stories they could tell! Thanl you for the laugh!
  19. Thank you so much! I was surprised to get a response so quickly! I can't wait to get the tank back to beautiful..... only thing about the whole experience is i get to start over with some new stuff I had not tried.... so very sad about the some of the corals I lost. Maybe I can find new favorite ahe?
  20. My son doesn't much like the corals as much as he likes the "creatures" I'm like to keep him involved and I do have a few aptasia creeping in. The tank was pretty sad when I got it back. The salt was 1.029. I had been gradually dropping it in hopes of not shocking anyone. I was thinking peppermints so he could see the shrimp? I didn't have many critters before so don't know much as to who I want to get in there. I did have a cleaner shrimp which we all LOVED!
  21. I've got about a million questions so I just joined the forum today. I recently got my 125 gall on reef tank back and am thinking in a new direction than I had it. I am thinking about getting a goby.... but not sure what type I should look into? Also, I am not sure what type of shrimp we are getting either. We were thinking peppermint shrimp and either a cleaner or coral banded? However, I'm not sure about how they will react together. Two stores employess have told me different things and on the web I seem to get different thoughts. Can the peppermints be with a cleaner or a coral banded??? Will the goby eat them all? Anythoughts greatly appriciated!
  22. Brand new to the forum so I'll figure it out I hope..... I have been without my 125 gallon reef tank for over a year. In a recent seperation my ex thought it would be good fun to keep the tank (jail), cause I loved it I'm sure. It wasn't something I could carry out so it stayed. Well, I've gotten it back and although there are a few things that survived I feel like I'm starting all over. Water quality is back. New lights. New Sump. Copepods are exploding. Starting out slow though. Now that the water is set I am looking at the cleaner crew. My son really wants a star fish. I have heard that sand sifters like to eat other friends in the tank so I am wondering if anyone has a though as to what type of star fish I might look at. (scratch) Doesn't have to be part of the clean up crew. Just a star my son would like but that is reef friendly? There currently are no fish and few corals. I hope to change that soon, however. Thank you for your thoughts!
