  1. What about a tunze 6025 for my 29g? Does anyone know what the flow pattern is like on them?
  2. I have a couple sure flow 1600 mods, but they flow was INSANE in there! It created a sand storm even on the mj900. I love the flow on them though. Very wide flow, not such a concentrated pattern like the typical maxijets.
  3. My nextdoor neighbor has a pond. I'll see if he can use them. Thanks guys. The sump is now installed without the bio-balls. My nitrates were fluctuating between 0-5 in my 29g. Now that the sump is installed with some chaeto in there, hopefully they will stay at 0.
  4. Hmmm. Maybe I'll pass then. I don't want any added maintenance. I actually had a koralia 3 in there until I installed the sump today. It was just a tad too much flow in one direction. I just put a mj1200 in one side with the return from my sump on the other. I'm still not happy with the flow.
  5. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm considering getting a couple of these to randomize the flow a little on the maxijets in my 29g. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11363
  6. Thanks for the suggestion. If I have another death, I'll definitely go see Isaac and get some of it. However, since all the fish that died were purchased from the same LFS at the same time, I am suspecting the deaths were out of my control. I have added some more fish from another LFS, so I'll see how it goes.
  7. Good idea! Didn't even think about selling them. I might do that.
  8. I use a mj1200 to pump mixed SW from a brute can into my 75g display during water changes. It flows pretty good at that height. The sump will be directly under the 29g tank, so it's about a 4 foot height. Hopefully it will be adequate flow to grow chaeto in the sump.
  9. Thanks. I'll try it out then. I was making sure there wasn't some weird reason I can't use a $20 powerhead instead of a $50-$100 pump that pushes the same gph.
  10. This may be a stupid question, but is there any reason I shouldn't use a mj1200 for a return pump? (sump for a 29g display) I have a couple laying around and it just seems like a good cheap option.
  11. Thanks. In the trash they go.
  12. I was given a sump (never been used) that has bio-balls in it. I was going to remove the bio-balls and just use the sump for adding water volume and growing some chaeto under my 29g. I've heard bio-balls can be nitrate factories. Should I use them or ditch them?
  13. Thanks for the link Andy. Since they did die shortly after purchase, I'll assume there is nothing in my tank that caused the deaths. As you stated in your response to that thread, perhaps a result of collection or transit was the cause. I'll just chalk it up to plain ol' bad luck. I'll probably find another source for the replacement fish though. I can't say for certain that the LFS was at fault, so I won't mention where I got them (please don't PM me asking). No need to give bad publicity unless there is 100% certainty of negligence and the LFS has had an opportunity to explain and/or rectify the situation.
  14. Thanks for the response Kris. With two fish deaths in two weeks I thought maybe there was something I was doing wrong. I'm adding a sump w/fuge this weekend. After that, I'll get a couple more fish and see how it goes.
  15. I agree. I always though that was odd.
  16. I set up my 29g tank about 6 months ago. All has been going well until recently. Occupants as of two weeks ago: 2 false percs royal gramma red lizard blenny small unidentified wrasse (about 1.5") cleaner shrimp 1 small red hermit 1 small emerald crab 3 nassarius snails 3 cerith snails Water tested this morning: ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 0 ph 8.2-8.4 alk 8dkh Two weeks ago the red lizard blenny died. He had no visible signs of death accept a bloated stomach. He was eating and acting fine up to that point. This morning I found the royal gramma against the powerhead. No visible signs for a cause of death. Also was eating/acting normally until today. The remaining clowns and wrasse are acting and eating normally. The wrasse, royal gramma, and red lizard blenny were purchased at the same time a month ago from the same store. The blenny and gramma were in tanks that were treated with copper. The wrasse was in a tank with inverts, so it obviously wasn't exposed to copper. The wrasse is black with a blue stripe and was sold as a "neon blue wrasse". He does have a small white speck on the side of him. More of a transparent type of speck. It almost looks like it's some kind of pod or something, but it doesn't seem to bother him. I tried to lightly scrape it with my fingernail a couple weeks ago, but I couldn't see it. That action ended up moving it to a different part of him. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I wanted to provide as much info as possible. I'm not sure what I should do. Should I QT the wrasse? Should I get rid of the wrasse? Should I not worry about it and add more fish (from a different source)? This tank is set up for my young nephew who has autism. He really enjoys watching it and it helps to keep him calm. He pulls up a chair and watches the fish for hours. He's going to freak out when he sees that "gurgle" is gone (royal gramma from Finding Nemo). I'd like to get some more fish in there ASAP if possible. Thanks, -Dave
  17. No kidding. This is my 2nd attempt at keeping an anemone. I tried a little over a year ago and it died in a couple days. I was reluctant to try again, so hopefully I can keep this one alive.
  18. I called the wife and she said it's wide open with the clown happily inside. Looks like all is well. Thanks
  19. Thanks guys. I've been depressed all morning because of this. Now I have hope. I'll give my wife a call in a few hours and see how it's doing. It ate a little night before last.....maybe it's just getting ready to make a poppie (laugh) It hasn't given off any slime, but I have been a little concerned though 'cause it's still bleached and it's mouth is usually open. It's tentacles are sticky and responsive to food though. It takes whatever it's offered, but the clown usually ends up knocking it out. The last time I chased off the clown with a feeding stick to give the anemone time to consume it's food.
  20. It's dying, isn't it? A week ago This morning (same spot as a week ago) The tentacles are very short and thin now and it's collapsing in on itself. It looked fine last night. :(
  21. You bet. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9207 I haven't tried it out yet, so I don't know if it's any good. I was wrong, it's not beta. It's still alpha, so expect some bugs. (laugh)
  22. I agree the Firefox spell check needs work. Have you tried the spellbound add-on for Firefox? I don't have any experience with that add-on, but it may be worth a shot.
  23. One thread you are asking for macro.......another you are asking how to get rid of it. I think I found your problem! (laugh) Sorry......it struck me as funny.
