  1. Ok seems the interest is there I'll have to start some frags! I wouldn't have anything available for at least 2 weeks, but I'll post details and pics then.. I don't really know how much I'll ask.. probably $15 each depending on the piece. I'll have orange, pink, a neon mustard yellow, rainbows, green, etc...
  2. Gaging interest - I'm thinking of fragging some of my ricordea and selling them to fund some new corals/equipment. Before doing this - would anyone be interested? I have most of the popular colors (no uglies!)... only florida, no yumas.
  3. Has he come out yet?

    Pom Pom Crab

Anyone have one of these?? We thinking of getting one..
  5. From my experience, you need to up your flow, use a quality skimmer, and be sure to not over-feed. But it seems to be different from tank to tank so trial-and-error is also a good method! We tried a few different things that were supposed to eat it and no one did..
  6. Great tank!!! Why are you getting rid of the light?
  7. Looks like someone went to Soutas lol The first pic has ones just like the large colony in their front tank and then I noticed the diamond goby in the background
  8. Any way you'd be willing to cut off a piece of that pagoda before selling the tank?
  9. No the only way he could harm corals in your sand is by sifting a little hole next to them and they tip over (or at least from what I've seen so far!)
  10. Ok.. great advise - thanks everyone!! Ricky too, I really appreciate it! It could just be that he has a feisty personality (which I adore about him!) and it's taking time to settle down. I got the hubby to agree to a longer trial period
  11. That is terrible! I love my little brittle stars (seem to have a hundred of them!).. I heard the peppermint shrimp will eat them too. For the flatworms we were able to get them to go away by adding more flow and lots of water changes. I did read a great trick on nano-reef.com: While your lights are out, set up a small flashlight to shine on a small spot on your sand and leave it on there for 20-30 mins. Because the worms are drawn to the light they'll flock there and you can siphon out tons of them with a turkey baster... repeat as necessary (threaten)
  12. I really love him, he's just so fun to watch... however the hubby hates how he's flinging sand around so much that he keeps having to vacuum the fuge and it clouds the water. So I'm veto'd and he'll have to go back.. He's really great though if you have a tank that can have large amount of sand moved around without it causing problems. Seems to have filtered out all our cyano too!! (it was only on the sand)
  13. I'm so bummed I missed this :( just too much work to do and couldn't escape! Maybe we should do another one downtown hehehe
  14. I would love one if you could bring it when you come over for cyclops later?
  15. We brought home a beautiful Diamond Goby today to our 14g Biocube. I had done some research last night before getting him, but apparently not enough since now I'm reading he needs 50 gallons?? I was told at the shop that he will eat mysis shrimp too, so I was planning to feed him that every 2-3 days in addition to him sand sifting. Do you think he'll be ok?
  16. Ok I'm new here.... what are these in-between meeting about? Having beer and swapping/buying/selling frags?
  17. Racefan we've gone through all the mods for our 14g Biocube including adding cheato to the middle chamber with a submersed LED light on a reverse cycle. Here is a link to our modifications http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=185863 And a link to the nano-reef.com biocube page that will also help you know how to set up http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=180788
  18. This is how my friend has a sweet pic with her boyfriend Tom Brady (naughty) (I'm a graphic designer!) I agree that it's not wrong to photoshop the pics as long as they are adjusting them to represent what they look like in person. A good way to tell in these images is look for something you know should be white and use that to guage it... for example: the pic of the bloodbath the egg crate looks blue so probably he upped the blue on the zoas .... just realized this is an old thread.. oh well
  19. I turn my pumps off.. but I have a small tank and like target feeding And for my fish they still have fun because instead of having to chase the food around they like to run around looking for the best pieces. I also made it easy for turning off just the pumps by having them on a separate strip so I just push an on/off button instead of having to unplug and replug them
  20. Ok what do you mean when you say rubber band it? Wrap the rubber band around him and the rock/plug? Or is this like when you stick a toothpick through him on the bottom and rubberband the two ends of the toothpick around the plug? I'm having the same problem with my devil's hand. I keep attaching him and then part of it detaches and he slumps over on himself and starts to damage the parts squished down
  21. I'm so happy to see this... I went there in December and loved it. The owner was very helpful and I scored the BEST live rock I've seen. It was completely covered in coralline and was less than what I've paid in Portland for standard Fiji. Benny - which high school did you go to? Maybe we know each other since I grew up down there too (and we seem to all know each other by 2 degrees lol)
  22. Nice Monty Python reference lol I don't know about a year hiatus, but I have a devil's hand leather that has been acting strange so I've been reading up on their behavior and I've heard that they can close up and look waxy for a while for no apparent reason and then open up like nothing happened. I also read that if you have one being really strange and unhappy you can frag it and the frags can be happy even if they mother isn't?? And a less appealing option - is most people who couldn't get their leathers to open again gave them to a friend and for whatever reason it opened there and was problem free...
  23. Oh yeah, I did my research... actually I found http://www.zoaid.com/articles003.php to be really helpful. I can't believe the people who think they're good enough to do without.. I'm way to paranoid! But I looked like someone on CSI with the gloves, mouth mask, and work goggles lol
  24. I just read that Loctite gel works well and just tried it tonight... I'll let you know how that turns out. That being said, tonight was also my first time fragging!! Just zoas, but still exciting for the first time
