  1. Convert the room. You've probably going to anyway after getting frustrated trying to work in a closet. You're going to be doing a lot of work in that space, so mind your ergonomics. You may want to pour a concrete pad instead of just pier blocks. If you're crawlspace is bone dry it may not matter but I've had pier blocks settle over time, better to spread that weight over a larger area. Also 2x10's or 2x12's. Overbuild from the start, you aren't going to be able to fix anything once the tank is full.

  2. Oh, I'm not squeamish about that, I have a bag of soda ash from brs that's probably 10 years old I'll use eventually. That being said I'm also kinda curious about ots products.  I'm just getting back into reefing after a long break and there's so much interesting new stuff.

  3. OK, I've been waiting YEARS to raise cuttlefish. I got a couple cuttlefish for a neuroelectrophysiology lab project I did in college back in the aughts and it got me hooked on reefs. I got specimens from the UT medical branch in Galveston where they raised cuttlefish for research only. Over generations they got bigger and longer lived individuals, but they really only live a year and a half in the wild.

Unfortunately, they really can't be raised in a traditional tank, they need a soft-sided tank like an above ground pool with a frame kinda thing. Otherwise when they get spooked they jet into the wall and get "butt burn" and usually die from an infection. You're better off with octopus, but ya better have a good lid.

    Tank looks sweet!
