They are funny, in no way am I a expert but do have a few & noticed when mine get ready to split it goes under for about a week or so then reemerges smaller but in multiples. I have noticed if they choose to stay in the dark to long they may be heading for certain doom. I had one in the dark for like 6 months until it finally died. Good Luck,,,,,

Ahh man DOH!I thought you were redoing your house in a saltwater theme!(laugh)
That's funny right there,,,,

Maybe you have a clam that is covered with coraline making it appear to be part of the rock. Some of them clams get into the strangest positions.........

Rick, way cool thanks for bringing the pics up, some day I will learn how to do that.
Grassi & reef165, thanks for the kind words.
dee77, I have never been very good at documenting things in my tank the animals kinda go in & do their thing. I will try to find a earlier pic but I lost most pictures in 2 computer crashes, some pictures survived on chips though.
Beckie, When we got this coral from Rick it was like 4" or 5" tall and 2" to 3" wide with several little branches. I think we got it spring of 1997. In the last year it has turned into a monster because I stooped snipping branches off it.

THanks Emerald525, I wish I knew how to post it so the pic is on screen when the thread is opened.
ReeFit, that giant colony had about 5" at the bottom that had died off due to shading so I cut it off but left about an 1" & epoxied the whole colony back where it came from. I did cut off about 8 small colonies from that monster.

[/ATTACH]Look at this thing, we got it as a tiny colony about 3 1/2 years ago from Rick Souta. At the time he thought it to ba a slimer & it is blue, so blue slimer it must be. I knocked it off its rocker & was forced to pull it out & do some much needed trimming. The very left SPS in the second pic is the same coral.

Vivid is a cool store but somehow I must have missed the OME in the 800.
-
Soutas had a tank that was indescribable IMO, upscales tank is mesmerizing as well. Soutas tank had something different though, I will truly miss getting lost in thought through that reef system he had.

So what is the web address for kraylens site? I goggled reefersannoyomous & nothing. Plz fill in the blanks. Thanks BTW if somebody sells small frags & they know their frags are small they developer small frag syndrome.
-
I dont know what they are but they all look good. Nice reefing,,,,,,,,

I do not know a lot about the electronic components of reefing, but isn't Reef Keeper a device that controls PH along with many other things? If so that sounds like the way to go in the long run.

My vet stopped in at my house looked at my tank & said yep, those look like red bugs. I gave him information that is avail. in these forums to rid your reef of the pests. The Dr. was amazed at the reef, had me sign waivers then prescribed the treatment. I ordered from petmeds.com & they have stayed in touch with me regarding the effectiveness of the treatment. I am guessing it will not be long before we can get this stuff for a reef. My tank had no losses (not even the shrimp) from treatment. They do sell the active ingredient at the Grange Co-op, however I do not have a scale to measure the drug.
-
Vets around here will not prescribe without a house call.

Tank looks good, wish I had more $.

Is that a blenny on the clam???

This sounds like one to watch, hanging on.

I have not been to the Nano Reef "yet" but do look forward to it on our next northern trip.
There are many great stores up there & now it sounds like there is " 1 more".
Business fears business rivals & the idea of a MAP rule calms the nerves. Some go as far to say it is price fixing, & in reality it sorta is. Business = stress period, some can handle more than others. Sounds like Nano reef is in the squeeze & dealing with the pressure just fine. My hat is off to any person who has the courage to try opening- starting a business, today, tomorrow or yesterday. JMO

Beautiful reef, good luck with the sale.

Thanks Jody for the great corals, that blue prostrata is amazing. Your generosity of offering BONUS frags is unparalleled, not to mention your patience as I was many hours behind, you still took the time to share your knowledge & reefing wisdom. I look forward to seeing you again. Thanks again... Chris
