  1. I'll be running three blue VHO's and one white VHO with them over a 75 gal tank. Do you think that will make a difference?
  2. Andy, Do you like the 250W MH's? I am buying the Galaxy Dual 250W and will be running 20,000K radiums. Is that what you have? I'll be switching over from T-5's.
  3. Truer words were never spoken......
  4. I use super glue gel in the blue tube or the green with a white center epoxy. With the gel I typically have to use a lot of it to break the surface tension to get the frags to stick under water, and to make sure my bulldoser of a turbo snail doesn't knock stuff around.
  5. Let me first say welcome to the boards. Second there are a couple of places within reasonable driving distance. If you click on the homepage and go to our sponsers links you can get directions. Local there are The Fish Tank People, Seahorse, Saltwater-Fantseas, Rose City Aquarium, and Waves. All of these are excellant stores and would treat you right. The Fish Tank People are web based, but Doran lives in Orchards so is the closest to Vancouver. Not sure if he has any tanks in stock, but he is a board member for this club and goes by the user name "Defigart". So you could PM him and ask. Otherwise........... The rest have physical stores and are within 20-25 minutes driving distance. Well worth the drive. Again welcome Shane

    Tank Pics

Scott if you need me to "babysit" frags for you let me know. Not sure if you'll get them back but we can discuss that. (plotting) You need to get your new tank up and running. Let me know if you want help, I'd be more than willing. Shane
  7. How much for a frag of both types of Zoas? I would like some also? Thanks Shane
  8. In the third pic is that a bubble coral that is melting away?? I'm not sure where he came up 14k, so I'm throwing the BS flag. Shane
  9. My First Submissions Scotter Blenny Acan
  10. Thank you for the added confidence Bob. I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up my new tank. Thanks for the advice Mike. I hadn't even considered that. Shane
  11. Thanks Sam, I will let you know how it turns out. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend, but Saturday I am in Westport for Industry Day, so maybe Sunday. Shane
  12. Sam, So I can use muriatic acid full strength? My biggest concern was messing up the plastic/acrylic internal overflow or the silicone holding the sides together. Shane
  13. The new (used) tank I picked up needs a cleaning and I don't think that a vinegar and water bath is going to do it. So I am going with the muriatic acid bath. Has anybody done this, and if you have what were the parts water to parts acid? Is there a point of dilution that I do not want to exceed that it melts away the silicone or the internal corner overflow? (scary) Should I Fill up the whole tank or lay it on it's side a do one wall at a time. Thanks Shane
  14. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the rep power come from clicking the scale looking icon on the bottom of thier ID block and adding to thier reputation?? I was under the impression this is how it worked. Shane
  15. Sorry Ryan (R-3) I was finally able to get down to Eugene and pick it up. No thanks to the weather and my truck breaking down.(flame) Thanks Mike it was a pleasure doing business with you. Shane
  16. The stuff from HD is what I am currently using as baffles in my fuge. I have them siliconed into my glass aquarium and it works fine. HD also sells glass panes if you want to cut glass baffles. I just ended up cutting myself more than I was cutting the glass. Shane
  17. I just wanted to thank Scott publicly. He was gracious enough to let me borrow his diamond coated holesaw so I could drill my tank. It is due to members like him that make me glad I found this forum. (drinking) So after buying four ten gallon tanks and cracking two of them I finally learned how to drill a tank. Thanks Scott I really appreciate it. (For loaning me the holesaw not for letting me learn how to crack a tank!) (laugh) Shane
  18. Kris, I am unfamiliar with the product success calk, but looking at the website for it, it claims to be an alternative to Kalk (Calcium Hydroxide). I would assume that as long as it list Calcium Hydroxide as the main ingredient you should be okay. Hopefully someone on here has better info than me. I just go with Mrs. Wages as it is cheap and availabe at the local wally world. Before dripping Kalkwasser I was having a hard time keeping my PH up, and, I don't have my charts in front of me, but my calcium and ALK would swing all over the place. I was trying to add PH buffer and calcium additives and I just couldn't get my levels to calm down. After researching the above article and much more on the subject of dripping Kalkwasser I decided to give mixing the vineger and pickling lime a shot. I found that the biggest container I could fit under my 55 was a half gallon jug and coverted all the numbers for that. My params are all right on, and I haven't seen a swing since I started using it. I am by no means a chemist, I barely passed it in school, but I have am a huge fan of dripping Kalkwasser. All of the above is just based on my reading and experience with it. Shane
  19. I agree I will never have $1400 just lying around. My wife was with me and she told me I had a snowballs chance in hell of getting one.(sad) Man it sure was nice though.
  20. Andy, I asked Patrick last time I was in SWF about that tank I think he said $1400. Shane
  21. DITTO!!!! Add me to the list!!!! Shane
  22. Thanks Roy, That is very generous of you and it is much appreciated. Shane
  23. Thanks dsoz, If I can get there I'll take you up on that. Shane
  24. I'm up for whenever. Scott I am assuming we'll be doing this at your place since it is your equipment. How does this weekend sound? Andy how big is your tank? Do we need to come to you or can I help carry it over? I have a truck if that helps.
