  2. I have a 180 (72 X 24 X 24"). Can I light this for SPS/LPS with a 3 X 250 watt setup? I have 3 Large Lumen Bright pendant mogul fixtures that I can use..

    Ultra-Flex?

Anyone have any Ultra-Flex 1 1/2" pipe for me try out and see if I can get it to work as opposed to Spaflex? http://www.marinedepot.com/1_1_2_Inch_I.D._Ultra_Flex_PVC_Pipe_Tubing_ft_Flexible_PVC_Tubing-Plumbing_Parts-FT1383-FIFTTUFP-FT1387-vi.html Or Maybe: http://www.pondandgardenwholesalers.com/servlet/the-1273/kink-free-pond-hose/Detail
  5. A major thanks to Eugene area reefers for helping me get 180 and 75 tanks and stand over to my house! First of all Breefcase (Kevan)in has always been the defintion of a stand-up guy. First to volunteer his truck and sacrifice limited family time. I am always impressed by his wisdom and knowledge! Thank you! PS: My wife is kicking me about getting some salmon! Keep in touch! Thanks to Hog Head (Eugene) for the pleasure of meeting you and the generous use of your truck! I am still sore by your story of you and a friend moving a 210 by yourselves from a second floor. Although my daughter might not be too impressed by you being a train engineer, I sure as hell am! Thanks, Eugene! Bryan again showed up right on time and we shared war stories about psycho ex-girlfriends. I hope the 40B and drilling works for ya Buddy. Check out the duplex down the street. Be great to have ya in the neighborhood! There are a lot of nice kids your son’s age in the area for your boy to play with! Talk to ya soon! Finally, thanks to Bachelor (Robert) who is usually( justifiably) embarrassed by me, Cellowithgills (Micah, congrats again on your engagement!), and Talkalot for your generous offers!! Thanks, Franklin
  6. Thanks! Think we are set!
  7. Try and get as much ripples as you can. This may take some re-positioning because of the lip. However anything you can do with having a fan under MH is going to help particularly if you have unshielded mogul bulbs.
  8. There is likely a ferret shelter (usually through a local ferret club) in your area. They can help with reuniting with owners and giving advice if you decide to keep. They are fun for the right type of owner. However they are short-lived and very expensive at the vet. I spent over2.5K on two ferrets at the vet. I have had about 6 of them. http://www.oregonferretshelter.org/
  9. Yep on a controller. A timer should work too. You just might have your heater and fans working at opposing ends a bit. I was cooling over a 72 with 8 X t54's so there was not as much heat as your 2 X250 MH would produce.
  10. You want to have as much air in contact with the water. So blowing along the longest dimension seem to work the best, IMHO. I like to kind of ripple the the surface water a bit (think slight offshore breeze). You will notice an increase in top-off water. I set mine at coming on at 81 and off at 80 degrees. You will likely be surprised by how well it can work.
  11. Still in need of 1 helper to move 180 glass tank tomorrow. Must be moved in AM it looks. Should take only 45 minutes - hour including road time. Disclaimer: Since this forum section hasn't been used for awhile I didn't want to jam up the General section. Besides "Emergency" definitions may vary. If I don't have a Big Gulp in my hand it is an "Emergency" to me!
  12. Just make sure the template holes are the right distance as the box holes. There is a work around. Also, the "Magic Lube" stuff they sell as an option is pretty good stuff.
  13. I will put up a pic of the 120 tonight.
  14. I just need to make quick room for a used 180 and 75 that I am picking up in the next two days before the Benevolent Warden (aka wife) finds out I am getting these tanks! New 120 (4X2X2) tank. Same as Aqueon (can't remember name) except black silicone and beveled edges. $250. Stand. Sturdy 48 X 24 footprint. No doors. Could use a repaint due to GSD thinking that a tail is the same as a paintbrush! Made it to be plumbed into garage. Doors could easily be added by purchaser. $35.00 New Aqueon 29 $15 Sump. Appx. 40-50 gal Same footprint as a 40. Some misc. holes. FREE. Just need room. Aqueon 20 for glass (cracked plastic frame) FREE Another Aqueon 20 with strange BH holes (don't ask) FREE
  15. Thanks Kevin!! Got your #!!!!
  16. I just bought a 180 and stand and 75 tank here in Eugene and need to get them to my house within the next couple of days. Anyone with a truck or willing to help me move these? I think I'll need like three other people for the 180?
  17. Here is a link to the KGW news video: Put your cursor over the pic and the play button will appear. The person that did this is a real turd in the punchbowl. http://www.kgw.com/video/featured-videos/Vandals-destroy-40K-in-aquarium-coral-155349825.html
  18. I tend to disagree. The large majority of the more radical eco/pet activists find harming animals to be counter to their philosophy and would probably be shunned by their small community. I am not using the term "eco-terrorists" which is a misnomer for the most part. Again, they seek public attention but often wish to be fully acknowledged as being responsible for their wrong deeds. I don't think it is above a few of them to do this, just not real likely. I think that a competing business trying to sabotage another business is also not very probable. Most businesses see a scare such as this as being harmful to all shops. I could be wrong but most shops are pretty pragmatic. This looks, to me, to be a person (likely younger "loner" male, sorry) with a hint of sociopathic tendencies. The kind of a personality that feels wronged by a minor or perceived slight and is so unstable that they can't let it go and seek retribution. There seems to be a component that is unable to see that the largely imagined wrong is and the act are all out of proportion. The self-importance takes precedence over reason. It can be one of the more dangerous forms of mental illness if left undiscovered because the person displays a certain cunning and an ability to continue. If I lived in the area, I would transfer my purchasing over to the stores that were affected for a period of time, even if it were not my favorite shop, in a effort for our community to say that we will not be coerced. I am pretty certain that cameras will be installed at these shops and the chance of another incident will be minimal.
  19. I would put a few cleaner shrimp in a nano and tell the Service Manager that its the new OSHA/EPA mandated parts washer. "Hey look, they're CLEANER shrimp aint' they!".
  20. I've always heard that glass is required for DE MH fixtures to reduce UV radiation but not SE. I have SE mogul Lumen Bright pendant fixtures that I am installing that come with glass in place. Anyone have an idea of why? Needed?
