  1. $$ not necessary, but if you want to throw a frag of something my way, I'd let you(naughty)
  2. Hi Kim, They seem to be kept pretty well at bay. I can swing by on Thursday, and we can do some zapping. Do you have a lot? I don't remember seeing any last time I was there, but I was probably too dazzled by your corals to notice.
  3. Roll on one... John Majano, you've been condemned to die by the electric wand by a jury of your peers. A sentence imposed by a judge of good standing in this state. Do you have anything to say before sentence is carried out? (only silence, except for the whir of pumps, and faint water trickling sounds) John Majano, electricity shall pass through your body until you are dead...in accordance with state law. May God have mercy on your soul. Roll on two.... (Apologies to The Green Mile...) Yes, I have one, and it does seem to work pretty well. Fun to use too (evil cackle(laugh)). If someone wants to borrow it, I'll be making my usual commute this thursday evening.
  4. Algae, you've gotten younger, and a WHOLE lot better looking. How ya been?
  5. Play on words. For those of you that are spelling challenged, it's correctly spelled "briefcase".
  6. Try this, and go to aragocrete: http://garf.org/howtodoinformation.shtml
  7. I have a big bag of portland cement that you can have. You can make your own aragacrete with R-3's sand. Just a thought.
  8. Yes, they are a temperate species, they will not survive long term at tropical tank temps. I believe they need to be no more than the mid 60's.
  9. Michael 7979: I have dove with Michael at the OCA before, I believe he is a shift captain on Fridays. Great guy! Krux: Most of the divers do not live in Newport. There are many people that drive from the Portland area, and I'm sure you could work out a carpool situation. There are divers from as far away as Tacoma. Jason: I've been diving for 24 years now, and still love it. You should check into it more. Mike: I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun doing it, hope you will come blow bubbles with us!
  10. Well, let me be the first to post in this forum(clap) I have been a volunteer diver at the Aquarium for about a year and a half now, and have enjoyed it tremendously. A great bunch of people, and the best viz on the Oregon coast! If there are any advanced level divers out there that want to spend some time in the water, year round, check this out: http://www.orcadiver.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DiverDesc It's a blast!
  11. A Rabbitfish *will* work, just be prepared for it to turn to your zoas once the macro is gone. People do keep them with zoas, though, and have no problems. Just a heads up!
  12. I have been battling sawtooth caulerpa almost since I got my tank started. (flame) Lately, it has been really taking over. Things you can do are: 1. Feed less 2. Reduce lighting period 3. Install phosphate reactor in your tank (even though you're showing no phosphate, its because the macro is eating it up so fast.) 4. If your not using a sump, with light and chaeto, you need to. For me, the first two were not what I wanted to do, so I got a phospate reactor, which reduced my Phosphate from 1 ppm to 0 in about three days. Also, I am placing a new 250w MH over my sump, and am going to run it on a reverse photoperiod. Good Luck!
  13. Glad to help out. Hope the kids are enjoying the Aquariscope!
  14. Looks great Joel! Fun and learning at the same time (clap)
  15. Locally, I have purchased them at Liquid Sunshine before, but I'm not sure if they still carry them.
  16. Eric, I'm fairly certain that is ich. Over a year ago, I had an outbreak in my tank, and that sure looks like it. After much research, I concluded that the best course of action was to quarantine the fish, under hyposalinity conditions, and leave the tank fishless for a minimum of 6 weeks (mine was fishless for 7 weeks). After I did this, all fish were cured of ich, and the tank was ich free as well. More than a year later, I've had to problems. I know that it will be no fun to set up a QT, but it's the best course of action, IMHO.
  17. OK, ordered my phosphate stuff. Will post about how the shipment worked out. Thx for organizing this, Bob.
  18. Great pics, Miles!(clap) Are these with the flash poking out of top of the Aquariscope, or no flash? The tubs pictures are great, I'd like to use that on the website, if thats OK, you can email them to cyberkev@comcast.net Awesome!
  19. It was really greeat to meet everybody at the meeting. Many thanks to Roger for the Palys: We'll see how they look under my lighting(clap) I hope everyone enjoys the Aquariscopes too!
  20. Hi Suzanne, Count me in too if need be. You're right around the corner, well, sort of Kevin 510-3143
  21. I'd be interested too, Bob. Mostly in the GFO for now.
  22. I'm in too, hopefully we can get a discount.
  23. Well, I'm going to have to get a phosphate reactor, due to sawtooth caulerpa taking over my tank. In researching, I noticed how expensive the media is, I mean holy cow. it's only rust, for gawds sake. Anyway, anyone interested in getting together and buying in bulk? http://www.reade.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5250&Itemid=10 I've inquired about a quantitiy of 100kg, and will see what they say.
