  1. It’s the expensive cables that were always laughable, and especially more so for digital signals now days, that I would chuckle at. With that being said, I did go through some headache trying to get an HDMI signal twitch both both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos at 4K >30hz, but that’s a different story.

  2. Lots of DIY and industry trade types here so thought I’d ask. I want to bull a super strut / unistrut hanging rack in my garage. 24in deep. Will use threaded rod hangars to hang the strut, but Home Depot only sells the 18in deep closet maid vinyl wire racks. I’m looking for 24in deep, I suppose I could go with melamine or grade A plywood shelving but that could get expensive. Anyone know where I can find robust 24in deep open wire rack shelving in Portland?

  3. Home Depot has an 6 breaker automatic transfer switch for $167 but... yes labor is likely $80 x 6 hours? I do my own electrical work, I think it’s in the realm of possibility some advanced DIYers out there.

I scored this today, it should be enough to run my tank, the fridge, and some lights. Plus I can pop it in the trunk of my Tesla to extend my range 😉

  4. Our power is still out. Right by Riverdale High. Just refueled the generator.

I am learning about generators. The one we borrowed is not an inverter model, so even though this one has an auto throttle, its either idle or full bore. I think I'll get an inverter model after this is all said and done, that way at night I can run minimal power and not 🤬 off the neighbors and get longer run time. Then during the day crank the load back up.

  5. As of this morning large swaths of SW didn’t have power but from Hillsdale to Jesuit High where we saw our first traffic light. Got gas there. Generator is humming along making a rukus. New neighbors probably hate us thinking we’re using it to watch TV. 😂

Ramping the temp up to 80 last night paid off, by the time the generator was plugged in after about 8 hours out the tank temp was only 74. Lots of blankets on the tank at 3am though.

  6. Woke up at 3am to our power out. Watched the fireworks show out the window of yellow and green flashes as other transformers exploded and went offline. Very fight club-ish soothing with society collapsing.

Was boiling water this morning to keep the tank warm and luckily heard fro a family member with a generator that have power and don’t need it. Generator in the back now plus a six pack from new seasons so we back in business. If anyone does need help near C&C let me know.
