Thanks Benny. How's the new shop going?
I used to have problem with Cyano for awhile' date=' I put in more powerhead, less light and still didn't work. I went to SEAHORSE and bought a small bottle (I forget the name but ISSAC sold it to me) I used just a tiny bit and haven't see cyano again..... Thanks SEAHORSE.[/quote'] -
We carry a product called red slime control. It should do the trick. Shane, next time you pop in bring a water sample for me to test. I will PM you tomorrow regarding the stuff we talked about.

This should be helpful in picking a good salt.

Frank,
Why not call Scott?

Okay Bob. I guess I have some fragging to do.

You've got mail.

I wish I could get a picture of my rainbow monti. It has an awesome blue to turqoise base with gold and orange polyps.
-
I think that the water quality is as important as lighting to get the best color out of your sps. I keep the sunset fairly high in the tank under moderat to high current. You get more of that nice neon orange base color under high current.

Radium halides only come in 20k as far as I know.
-
I run 400w radiums with vho actinic and actinic white. The radiums are the best in my opinion. I also think the white spectrum flourescent brings out some nice pigment and growth.

Those are part of my private stash. I'm sure I could make Bob a frag though.

Bob,
I'd like a jumbo sized watermelon chalice and a Shelly's Honkin Huge burrito with sweet chili sauce please. I hope it's no trouble.
-
I will make sure it doesn't make it back into a coral tank. I have had the same problem with every angel I have ever tried in a reef. They all eventually nip at something.
-
Andy,
If you bring the angel into the shop I can buy it or trade if you like.

pearlberry?
in SPS
This is an Acropora Sarmentosa.
They vary in color a bit from this picture.

pearlberry?
in SPS
id 3 say pearlberry 1 skeptic(scratch)
Doesn't look like the pearlberry to me. It might be A. Sarmentosa. But I can't say for sure from the photo.

The bottom of the tank should be fine. If one of your acans seems to be losing color try tucking it into a shady area for a while. The acans seem to vary in lighting preferences. I have also noticed lighting can make them change color. For instance If you put the rainbow morphs into high light they turn red and orange but lose some of the greens.
-
The acans should be placed in moderate to weak lighting and moderate flow. If they don't open in the next day or two let me know. They should open up soon. Acans are pretty bullet proof.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It was nice to meet you Curtis. Enjoy the new corals.

Red Slime Algae (Cyanobacteria)
in General Discussion
Posted
The treatment involves a mild antibiotic that is very safe for your reef. The red slime could be due to water quality and/or not enough flow.
