  1. All the research we've done on them and personal experience shows that if you put a Flame Angel in your tank they may nip at LPS, Zoanthids, or some invertebrates but otherwise they tend be safe in a SPS tank. Same goes for Coral Beauties, but Lamarck Angels and Black Spot Angels appear to not even pose a risk to any coral though. That is why we stock them. Just wanted to clarify it as it's not just "reef tanks" in general, and not all angels pose a risk. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  2. Lol, a quadruple post. You have a good point about the MAC fish, but one would ask could they really do better in the hands of a cyanide catcher? The answer to that I can assure you is no. Jason, that's a good amount of fish, but I wouldn't go over that to much more. It would be a little crowded for a 34g. *ADDED* Mini-Mysis are available frozen as well. We have both kinds. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  3. Yeah, I've noticed that our piece of Setosa has made a few little branches here and there. A quite interesting coral to say the least. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  4. That's a nice looking set-up you have there, my friend! Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  5. We usually feed them Mini-Mysis Shrimp (Same for Hector Eye's), if they don't seem to be eating it well at first we encorporate some Frozen Saltwater Cyclops for him to pick at and filter out of the sand. Usually they do good with just Mini-Mysis Shrimp though. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  6. Definitely not a nocturnal fish! But they do like going in and out of rock work. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  7. Lol, hasn't been too bad yet. The lumps can get pretty big but overall they just itch. (laugh) This has happened on a daily basis though since I've always got my hands in the tank taking care of these guys. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  8. It would definitely be nice to have those guys more widely available though. :( I've only seen them from time to time other than hearing about facilities or people that raise them and them only. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  9. Looked more like Setosa to me as well. The polyps power depends upon the amount of nematocysts found on each tentacle (Think of them as miniature harpoons). If a coral is growing into another coral they usually use their Acontia (Mesenterial Filaments) to kill eachother. They look like little strings, and are best seen when a coral tries growing on the viewing area of the tank as they kill off the algae around it to grow there. I'd also like to mention that until 7 months ago I wasn't allergic to coral stings, but now am. It's a bit weird really. I brush next to a millepora or a tortuosa, and suddenly I have little round, itchy, lumps on my hands.
  10. In most cases it is. But, we personally only deal with wholesalers that stock MAC certified and tank raised fish. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  11. Anything is possible. Bob Fenner is a smart man, and has good literature. The thing is, we haven't seen a change in our fish. The people we buy from have their own location in collection areas where they net catch fish. I'm just hoping that cyanide catching is not on the rise. With economic trouble some stores might be looking for "cheaper fish", I personally can't speak for them though. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  12. You need to feed your fish everyday. Even if it is a light feeding You need to keep your temperature between 76-80 (Ideally 78), never above or below. We get coral beauties and flame angels in all the time, but please don't buy any fish until your other ones are just fine! I suggest doing a water change as well. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  13. I'd have to some what agree with that statement as well. I've been hearing many things about that from our newer customers. They're just plain tired of getting sick fish, and I don't blame them! If you come to our store you don't have to worry about that. We make sure it doesn't happen, and we only buy quality, healthy, eating fish. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  14. The lack of food could have done it, especially for a new fish. They need to be fed everyday. Could have also been a internal problem with the fish, but I doubt it. The temperature staying at 80-82 can be very stressful to the fish. Keep it at 76-78. If you had anything in your tank that might be rotting or did rot, and you don't have bioballs the ammonia level might be quite high as well right now. There are so many different variables that I can't say which one is the exact cause. Probably a little of all. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  15. I'm looking for the corals below. Go here for more information: http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10721 Bird of Paradise Birdsnest Minefield Cyphastrea Red w/ Blue Polyps Birdnest Ice Fire Echinata Royal Plum Acropora Chili Pepper Montipora Supernatural Capricornis Ultimate Blue Staghorn Australian Invader Acropora Bazooka Joe Watermelon Echinophyllia Babys Breath Favia German Blue Polyp Digitata Blue Polyp Capricornis Green w/ Pink Polyps Capricornis (Atlantis Capricornis) Pumpkin Patch Echinophyllia Candle Light Acropora Blue Tipped Montipora Thanks, Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  16. Come on in to our store then. Like I said before, you won't be disappointed. But, if you do please don't buy any fish from us at the moment until the situation with your fishies clears up. The problem would just spread to the new fish. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  17. Nevermind, I just took a look at his body structure and it is not a Strawberry Crab. If he has long eyes, which I'm guessing he does, he is a Uca Fiddler Crab. Why anyone would willingly sell these to people, I have no clue. You need to have a rock piece poking out of the water for him to climb up to so he can get out of the water from time to time. They also like to have a mud flat. They are a specialty crab to say the least. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  18. No white spots on the top of his body, and purple under his shell? Does he have a red band going through the black on his claws? Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  19. Looks like a Hawaiian Strawberry Crab as well to me, but I can't really see the white dots on its back with these two pictures. If it does have the dots, then it is a guaranteed yes. They pose no threat to your reef, but they will eat algae and leftover food. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  20. Star Fire.......(drooler) Keep us updated! Can't wait to see it fully operational. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  21. Lol, didn't think about that one. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  22. Your in luck! When you come in Thursday you'll have a few types to choose from if you want one for your tank. They shouldn't disturb any of your Zoas at all. The only thing I think he might do is accidentally sift sand over them time to time. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
  23. Now that sounds a lot more like their organs have been damaged from a internal parasite or chemicals. I'm not quite sure where to advise you to go from here. Once this happens they usually end up dying. :( I do hope they get better though. Ricky Soutas Jr. -Soutas Saltwater & Reef Inc.-
