  1. I still have close to 100 survivors. Lost a few during water changes. It seems like they're attracted(curious) about anything attached to my hand...(siphon, sieve, flashlight, and beers ????). A few have succumbed to injuries via siphon tube during cleaning/water changes. PITA!

They're doing well other than that. Eating Rotifers, Otohime A and live baby brine.

    Can't wait until metamorphosis!

  2. So, a little bit about reed mariculture....

They have a very simple feed program for hobbyists. I'm using their "L" strain Rotifers, rotigrow complete, their compact culture system, and the "hobbyists" pack of otohime.

So far so good. I'm pretty impressed at how easy(but time consuming) their program is. Well worth the investment. Plus, the look on my daughters face while watching the fry eat and develop is PRICELESS!

  3. Beautiful piece!????

Stopped by Jeff's today for peppermint shrimp and snails. However with a the nice stuff he has it's hard to leave with just that. Sirena also got a few things for her tank too.

It always feels like a club meeting. Spectra was there and the Pantherguy walked in. Then I saw Jorge and Fernando. Has anyone ever noticed that the 2 of them always seem to be together?

Got a nice chalice and strawberry shortcake frag which is one of my all time favorite sps!!

Also got some more montis!! It's always more than just a shopping trip, it's an experience!!

  4. So, this pair of A. Ocellaris has been in my care for 7+ years. They spent 5 of those 7 years in my sisters 65 gallon until they killed all her fish.

They just started to spawn again in the last 6 weeks. They are spawning roughly every 2 weeks. Their home is a 24"x24"x18" cube with a 5'x18"x22" sump (roughly 55gal.). Here's a pic to get the ball rolling....

  5. Again, thank you for your imput. What you are saying makes sense but I am worried more about O2 levels with 400 fry in less than 10g. Probably negligible at their tiny size but just thinking out loud. I will definitely take your advice on this matter.

Are you using Roti green in your fry tank to decrease water changes? Is it "cleaner" than Roti grow?

I'm thinking of ordering 2 million/Roti grow and will divide them by 3. 2 cultures and 1 in the fry tank.

Artemia and dry food (otohime) by day 4/5 and a crap ton of small water changes. I know that most breeders are shying away from artemia but I have lots of experience with them from my old cichlid days 20 years ago. Plus my reef loves them too.

Thanks again for your input! Not sure how well this batch will come out but the next few should be solid. I'll make sure to start a new thread as soon as they hatch.

  6. Thanks for your input! Are you suggesting 7-8g for rotifer density only? I have no issue with buying more than 1 million. Plus after more closely counting the clutch, there's more like 400 eggs. That's alot of fry for 7-8 gallons or even 15g. I may setup a 30-40g.
