  1. Looks like a Pacific Coast Imports (PCI) skimmer or a coralife. What are the dimensions? Also how did you convert the rio?

It is not a coralife super skimmer. I have two of them, and this one is not it.

THe CSS has a red ring that is threaded to screw down the collection cup. I don't see a red ring.

  2. Most would say a yellow tang in a 65g is OK. I would tend to disagree. Tangs need larger tanks, especially when they get bigger. IDK the dimensions of the 65, but if it is not at least 4' long then don't try it. Six feet would be much better IMO. This is coming from a guy with a powder brown in a 75g. The fish needs more swimming room.

  3. Hopefully not monti-eating-nudibranchs. That would be bad.

Do the yellow spots look like areas where the flesh is gone and the bare skeleton is showing?

  4. It would be a LOOOOONG day, especially if the 150 is going where the 75 was.

Also, if the sand has been used for more than 6 months, consider new sand. If when you are taking it apart there are any black, smelly, rotten egg areas then you should not use the old sand. You will release toxic hydrogen sulfide into the water and kill a bunch of stuff.

Should be fine. I have moved my 75g tank all in one day by myself. But I was only moving it across the room. I only asked my teenage son to help lift the tank itself, which took about 5 minutes of his time.

Have lots of buckets and rubbermaid totes to hold all your stuff, and have about 100g of saltwater made and ready to go (match salinity).

  5. I like my 75g. It is big enough to aquascape, and not too deep. The problem with deep tanks is that you get your arm completely wet when you want to reach the bottom. Since I met you, I think that you would probably need a snorkel to reach the bottom of a 90g (I get wet up to my armpit). I know I can not reach the bottom of Undrtkr_00's 110g (I tried last week), which is even taller.

  6. Let's keep you bored at work. I like having my lights on. :)

Let me guess, you work at a nuclear power plant and you are only needed if there is a meltdown. You are the one that calls the President and tells him that there is a problem right before you die... :)

  7. Not bad, but prolific. I am the one that posted just a step above aptasia. I have some in my tank that I call the "ugly palys" that I have been trying to eradicate for a while. I don't care when they grow in the back of the tank, but some of them are occupying valuable real estate. I tear them out every couple of months, but they just keep growing back. It is next to impossible to kill them.

The ones you have do look nice, but only in a limited number. Once you get more than 300 of them, and they are taking over a couple of your rocks you will regret having them.

I once heard someone say that zoas = fancy aptasia. I lauged so hard when I heard it that I almost spit my pop out all over my computer. LOL

  8. Nice score. Patrick is a great guy.

The orange ones are eagle eye (or watermelon, depending on who you ask), and the green ones are dragon eyes.

+1 on watch those ugly ones on the bottom. They will take over your tank. They are only one step up from aptasia. They don't sting other corals, but they will overgrow everything in its path.

  9. Hey Dennis I would take a hunk. Do you wanna trade for anything or just cash??

Cash would be nice. Something is wrong with my lights. One section of the lights keep tripping my GFI. I don't rememember if it is the 2 bulb or the 4 bulb part of the TEK light. I just unplugged it for now. With my son's graduation this weekend I have not had time to look at it closely. If it is something simple/stupid like salt creep in the endcaps then a trade would work, but if it is something like a replaced ballast... then I would need cash.

Going to the meeting on Sunday?

I will not be at the meeting this weekend. Graduation party at that time.

  10. I have some of this Cespitularia AKA blue xenia for sale. One piece is mounted on a piece of LRR, several others can be made but are not mounted.

it is much more blue than the pic shows. The blue does not show up well with a camera.

FYI cespitularia does not pulse like xenia, but I like the color much better.

$10 for non-members or $8 for PNWMAS members.

  11. It is almost impossible to kill chaeto in less than a month of complete darkness. I had some in a tank that had no light over it, but the light from the tank next to it was enough to keep it alive for several months. It did just fine once I put it back in a tank with a light.

  12. Now that we have that cleared up' date=' can someone please explain "pwned" to me? [/quote']

PWNED is similar in definition as "owned". When someone claims to have "pwned" or "owned" someone else it is basically saying they worked them over or that it was a very easy kill. Basically like taunting....for instance in basketball they would say "if your face" well us gamers say we "owned" or "pwned" you

To use it in a sentance would be:

My gamer pwned your honor student.

The story I heard abouut PWNED is that someone tried typing in OWNED (like Eric said), but they accidently hit the P instead of the O. It started as mocking that guy, but then it caught on...

Do a google search for "urban dictionary" and you will find out a lot more than you wanted to know about all the slang that teen agers use. Being a teacher I use it a lot so I can understand what the kids say.

  13. I always thought that Newb is a polite term for a newbie, and Noob is a derogatory term for someone new that is annoying. Very different.

Much like there are "Freshmen" and there are "9th graders." The freshmen are annoying, and the 9th graders are the same age, but are able to act more mature. FWIW, I know some kids that are graduating that are still "freshmen"

  14. Dude. I sent you a PM. You have shared the love enough that some should be shared back to you. :) Come over and pick out a few heads of Euphyllia from my tank.

You may just go home with a couple extra Euphyllia for the share the love forum. :)

    and this one too

I have potassium permanganate that I can give you/your friend. Next time you are in Portland, you can swing by Oregon City and I can give you a couple of treatments of the stuff. Send me a PM. If you pay shipping, I can probably even put some in a flat rate postal box and send it wherever.

I had montipora eating nudibranchs (two or three times) and zoa eating nudibranchs once.

With enough dips and treatments they can be defeated!!!
