  1. PM sent for the War Coral.
  2. I think Nemo would be a great name Congratulations!
  3. I used a 500ml bag that filled a phosban reactor about 2/3rds. I am told it will slowly dissolve and that you should top it off. After 3 months 3/4ths of it is still there. I am going to top it off soon. My total system water volume is at least 185 gallons. I think it is way better than vodka because it is automatic. You just need to make sure your pump is flowing through the reactor at all times or harmful stuff can build up in the reactor. I have had the pump go out though for days. When I restarted the pump I had no problems.
  4. (sad) Last summer I had a thermometer reading 7 degrees cooler than the real temperature. On the hottest days of the summer I was thinking I was pushing the edge when the temp was reading 85 degrees. I bought a new thermometer for some beer brewing and I tested it on my tank to discover that the temp of the tank was much higher than my digital thermometer was telling me. Agave did not make it. I have never missed a fish so much. On a brighter side I now am the proud owner of a chiller and a reefkeeper lite aquarium controller. Now the temperature does not shift more than a degree.
  5. NP Biopellets worked great for me I thought I would revive this thread with a report of my experience with this technology. I have been using 500ml of NP Biopellets on my 140 gallon system for about 3 months via a Two Little Fishes phosban reactor. It has been nothing short of miraculous. For two years my aquarium could not even grow a zoanthid. I had big hair algae problems and my nitrate and phosphate numbers were always high. A couple weeks ago something amazing happened. The huge amounts of hair algae in my tank suddenly started to vanish. My zoanthids are now huge and growing quickly. I even had old skeletons of stony and LPS corals left for dead in the back of the tank suddenly come back to life in a big way. Then something happened that I never thought possible. My test kits could not detect nitrates or phosphates. That was the coolest thing ever. After more than two years I am reminded why I built this beast of a tank in the first place. The price of the pellets is a bargain. Just set and forget. I do currently run phosban but I am sure that it is not responsible for the tank turn around. I have used phosban for years and it has not been able to fix the phosphate levels and subsequent hair algae. In addition currently my phosban is really spent so I know it must be the biopellets. http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5742
  6. At long last I am happy to report that my tank is finally working. Fish are swimming, coral is growing and parameters are spot on. It has been a long battle but it was worth it.
  7. Thanks for the great deal on the HUGE frags! There are still some equally nice chunks.
  8. I said to hell with it and started to take the light fixture apart. The ballasts and fans look brand new inside this fixture. Now I need to spend some serious DIY time with it to make the functioning parts work for me.
  9. Dibs on the Blue Wave and Lumen Max if they are new. PM Sent.
  10. I have always said that nothing is worth doing unless you do it to excess. This project is a shining example. Good work. Your tangs are going to love it!
  11. Hi Editing this post. I have discovered that one of the HQI 150 watt lights in this fixture does not work. I am sure this can be fixed. I am thinking of taking it apart and using the compact flourecents and single HQI light that works for other projects. Before I go and take it apart I was wondering if anyone wanted to fix this thing. Chances are someone with any skills can fix this easy. Worst case senerio is that it needs a new HQI ballast but it could be a simpler problem I would trade for some supplemental actinic lighting of some sort. I now have 2 250 watt HQI above my tank but i need some supplimental light for morning and night. If no trade I will sell it for $175.00. The working HQI bulb is less than a month old 14,000k. I will also consider a trade for frags or a decent lighting system for my 30 inch frag tank. If I cant sell it I am going to take it abart and use the functioning 150 HQI for the frag tank and the duel 110 watt compact florescents for supplementing my 140 gallon tank. It just seems a shame to take this thing apart. It is a nice looking hood with lots of potential. Less than a year of use. Here is a link: http://tinyurl.com/y93t37v Thanks
  12. Howdy I bought this tank a while back for a refugium but the bulk heads in the duel overflows cause it to not fit in my stand. The overflows are small 4 by 5 inch boxes up in each corner. It has the typical coralline algae and some scratches. I think it could be converted to a great sump or a display tank if you want to buff out the scratches. The scratches are not very heavy duty so it could be fixed up. It is the typical 55 gallon size. 48" by 13" by about 18". The bulk heads make it about 14" wide. I would trade for the same sized acrylic tank or a bit smaller. It just would need to fit in a 48" by 13" by 18" space (no bulkheads). The tank would not need to be nice because I just want to use it as a refugium but it would need to be acrylic. Perhaps an old sump or something. I would also be willing to trade for 3 six gallon carboy bottles.

  14. Item sold I just made a deal to trade the light for an XBOX 360. I use them as media servers and now me and my wife can go head to head in Call of Duty (wife)
  15. Selling a PFO 400 Watt Dual Metal Halide Ballast with two Retrofit Reflectors with mogul sockets. The reflectors only have 6 months use on them and are like new. Two 6 month old XM 20000k bulbs included. It is all in perfect working condition but this much light is a waste for my current setup. Price for the ballast and reflectors is $140.00. Here is a link to the ballast up for sale new: https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~category~PFO_400_Watt_Dual_EYE_Metal_Halide_Ballast_Assembled_400_Watt_Magnetic_Metal_Halide_Ballasts~vendor~PFO_Lighting~idProduct~PF1852~idCategory~FILTACBAMHFHMBFA.html Here is a link to a product very much like the reflectors I am selling: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~lighting_metal_halide_sunlight_reef_optix_2_reflector.html
  16. Congrats! That is sweet! Watch out though. Once those fish figure out they can make babies there is no stopping them
