  1. Atleast you can suck the algae out without sucking up the sand. Or if it's the tough stuff just scrub it with a tooth brush before doing a water change. If I go with the faux sandbed I'll be sure and have a ton of flow down low to hopefully keep algae from forming on the sand.
  2. I really like the way your sand bed looks. What process did you use in makeing it? Did you rinse the sand and wait for it to dry before you mixed in with the faux? How long did you let it cure before adding water? Very nice looking reef.
  3. Stand looks great as does the tank. Can't wait to see it up and running.
  4. Ya pretty much whatever Woody tells you to do just do the opposite and you'll be fine.
  5. Man I got tons of ideas but no time to make them reality. Between working my 9-5 job and running the kids around I hardly have time to sit down and eat. I would like to sale off some of my oil paintings that I painted back when I was inspired but people are very paticular about art. I've been playing in a band for the last year to fulfill another lifelist dream but it is kind of like reefing. You put lots of money into it and not much of a return. After fineally comeing to the realization this summer that I have to have a reef tank again, I started my new 150 gal. project. I constructed a really nice DIY stand and hood and am basically building as much as I can to save money. Anyone need a stand or hood? I can make a little extra cash building for fellow reefers. Paintings? I can paint a picture of just about anything. Yardwork? I still need tons of stuff to get this new tank up and running.
  6. Very cool photo. Cold water fish sound like they have some big eating habbits. How often do you have to feed?
  7. What happend to all the rics?
  8. Love the open look you got going on. Still need to see this tank in person someday. How about some updated pics of your cold water tanks when you get time.
  9. My uncle and his wife came over last year when I had my 100 gal. His wife was glued to the tank and said to my uncle come look at all of the cool plants he has in his tank..LOL I then showed her the fuge under the tank and showed her the plants, and explained that the large green thing in the tank swaying in the wind as she said, was not a plant, but a Toarch Coral.. LOL Silly pessants! If they only knew that plant cost me an arm and a leg!
  10. Well I thought it was worth shareing. I thought it was great! How about you Nyles.
  11. That's not good. Did you reboot after installing quicktime?
  12. Just curious what preventative measures you all take when introduceing a new colony or frag into your systems? I have not been fortuneate enough yet to have a SPS reef, but I will soon. And before I put my first acro colony or frag into my new tank I want to know what preventative measures I can take to avoid introduceing flat worms, or any other unwanted predators into my reef. Is there a dip that you can use on acros? Something similar to Muchoreef and his Zoa dip?
  13. Glad you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Love the Octo at the end. Sly creature the Octopus..

  16. I have been following that thread. Man if I could just figure out how to pick the winning numbers on the powerball(scratch) . It is totally off the hook. Dumb is a stupid word to use. Hey that's an oxymoron right! LOL.. I think it's freaking SWEET!(rock2)
  17. I was thinking of a sequence as well. I don't have any pics yet. Need to get my digital camera out of the shop.
  18. I am in the process of putting together the same size tank. Building it from the ground up. I just finished the stand, and got a sump from waves. 30x16x16. Now I'm looking for a nice skimmer. My plan is to do it from the ground up. Get all the equipment in the stand. Build the tank and canopy last. I'm looking at next year sometime before I have water in mine. Patience is a virtue! Kudos to you for doing your homework and takeing your time. What closed loop pump did you go with in your 180?
  19. That first falls pic looks like the falls in Jurassic Park.
