  1. Trying to drive each one with a TA7291p chip. I think if I PWM the inputs to ramp down slowly it should prevent EM feedback from the DC motors.

Yea.. Just saw the jebao one for $75 on Amazon. I probably should have just brought it instead of DIY. Will maybe save $5-10 when done..haha

One of the feature I don't see in the market is running in reverse before dosing to mix the fluids for consistent concentration.

  2. Parts arrived a few weeks ago... Finally started on my new 5x Doser prj which will hook up to my DIY controller. Almost finished wiring it up last night...

Next steps... Run some basic test, calibrate dosers, add doser algorithm to controller.

Plan to dose: Ca, ALK, Mg, Fe, fresh saltwater.

  3. Got everything wired up, updated the current drivers, up and running.

I like the fuller spectrum (personal taste). The 105mm lens are so much wider than the 44mm ones. I'll need to lower my lights to limit the light bleed to the room. Kept the 10W blue as moonlight function.

  4. I noticed more issues with my last set when using wave modes (tending to lock up). I run them all constant now.

I think the problem with their products is tolerances are too tight. It doesn't take much in the saltwater environment to gunk something up or create build up on a bearing. Once they jam, it's only a matter of time before they burn up. Seems like an over current fuse somewhere would prevent this. DC pump owners should sand inside the ceramic bearing to avoid it locking up. Just my experience with them.

Interesting.. I did manually turn my dead rw-8 and it felt fine. I don't think there a way to take the rw series apart.

  5. Got 2 RW-8 back in Aug 2014, now one of them just died. I wonder if the constant on/off is the cause of failure. Would ramping power on be better for it. I'll reprogram my controller for soft start but unfortunately it's those thing that only can be 100% sure if it fails.

  6. I used to have some live Mysid shrimps in my tank.. probably came with some coral frags.  However, back in Jan, I replaced the entire sandbed and now I don't see anymore Mysid shrimps anymore.  :(

Anyone have Mysid shrimps in your tank/sump that can suck out a few for me to seed my tank?

    Thanks in advance!!
